Software for sharing teachers screen onto iPad?

Can anyone advise on the options for a visually impaired student to be able to view the teachers desktop on their iPad?

I have looked at Reflector and Airserver but they are not the answer. Ideally with the ability to set the iPad to read only with no interactivity. If this is successful we are looking to roll this out to the whole school.

Thanks in advance for suggestions for me to try. We may even have a small budget for it!

If you're using O365 then I believe this is is also possible through Lync 2013 for iPad but we don't use iPads here..

I've used VNC for this for a VI student in one of my schools and it works great. I'm not promoting this software but I used tight vnc on the desktop and the real vnc app on the ipad.

As above, used tight VNC on the desktop and Mocha vnc on the iPads,

we have about half a dozen running round school.

only problem I've found is you can only have five devices on the iPad, so if they are based in a lot of different rooms it might not work.

The greatest challenge though is making sure that the student on the ipad can view only and cannot control it in any way . I am not sure that VNC is then the answer, unless there is a view only option from ipad?

Use Impero here.

 

Sound doesn't transfer however and you cant play videos smoothly. Not sure if this is a ipad/wireless/impero issue.

Apologies for digging this thread back up but I'm now faced with the same situation.

 

I have a lower school VI student who needs the same requirement, however I've just looked at his timetable and I see that he's in 15 different rooms during the week. My big concern with installing any type of VNC software on the staff IWB PC's is one of security. Many of our teachers set work on the projector, then freeze the display and work in their own emails, SIMS etc which the students obviously can't see (all our teacher PC's screens can't be physically seen by the students). Clearly any form of VNC software isn't going to be frozen and potentially the student will be looking over the teachers shoulder at confidential information/student grades etc.

 

My LEA is saying they have schools where VNC is fine (but after checking their reference sites, they are primaries where the student doesn't move...). Is there any way of doing this or is a simpler solution to sit them at the front and get the teacher to email them screen shots or the student to use the camera and photo the whiteboard as they go?

My LEA visual support people know everything there is to know about IT security, and VNC is absolutely the answer in every secondary school in the country because it works fine in [school up the road].

 

Cough, splutter! - I'm sick of them telling me how to do my job, and offering to get [local school] to ring me and explain how to install VNC so their student can use it.

 

I've done nothing yet, so will keep an eye on this thread, and will look at some of the apps suggested above.

Teams? Teacher can share their desktop / application window.

We went down the route of having the student install Teams on their laptop and we created a dedicated group that has our VI student and all her teachers.

 

They can share the documents with the student via it, or start a meeting to display the member of staffs screen that way

Thanks for the replies. We are actually using teams already in anger due to the amount of self isolating students across all classes. So a separate teams group just for that student and the tutors wouldn't work as each teacher would already have a teams lesson going on for the rest of the class in each of the lessons.

We did the separate team to make it easier for the student so they didn't have to go between the different subject ones.

If your staff are already using teams, can always do a meeting with the student even if they are in the classroom, or share the Powerpoint/resource via it so they can go through it on the ipad and resize the image as required
