Website company charge £100 per 100MB

Hello All,

 

Our website provider and online marketing company have tried to charge us £100 per 100MB. After I complained that this price was just crazy, they now don't charge us to upgrade our webspace. People who wouldn't know any better would pay this.

 

Can anybody share their thoughts on how expensive they feel this is? I just wanted to print off all the comments to show the company when we next have a meeting.

Well, I phoned 1998 and spoke to Geocities. They said the price was outrageous, so that gives some idea of how extortionate that is. You sure it wasn't £100 for 100GB? That'd be more in line with current pricing.

You know what, I was about to say I can remember paying £1/mb for hosting space in the late 90's. It was expensive then and I only paid it because I needed specific functionality.

Well we did away with buying from a company and just hosted the site ourself which has reduced that cost totally

For web hosting I've personally moved to a company called servage.net a number of years ago. Under a fiver a month and you get Unlimited disk space, bandwidth and a lot more - worth having a look - Technical Website Hosting Features | Servage Web Hosting

We self host just because of this. That and it gives us complete control. Hate to think what ours would cost. Think our moodle is probably 500gb!
