Who has access to your server room?

And i did the remote shutdown in case i got an electric shock when switching it off at least i am safe also i was not going near the server and fiddling about switching it off as i have to crawl under a desk and unplug it :(

I would rather crawl under the desk and try to save it and save some of the schools and tax payers’ money on new equipment/parts if they are necessary.

Get a hairdryer to it. Someone left a window open in one of our ICT suites and there was a torrential storm that literally flooded out three computers and monitors. I got some of the kids to waft hairdryers over them for an hour, left them overnight and they were fine in the morning. OK, it wasn't sticky coffee but chances are it will be ok.

Surely the best thing to do is wash the coffee off the lovely parts with some tap water?

If you want to be really fussy, use demineralised de-ionised water as tapwater will leave deposits that will affect the electronics. Your science technician can probably make you some.
