I was genuinely excited when I saw the 'Enrol Now' link had turned up. Does anyone have a UK-based reseller that has signed up? I rang ours, Misco, today and was told they're still in the early stages of finding out how it works.

I managed to do this several weeks ago. Setting up the two factor auth was tedious and we had to register another apple id to register the auth.

This link was only made live yesterday about 10am so I doubt you did this, you are getting confused with VPP....

Apple have not completed the set up of any portal settings as yet as DEP also requires resellers to be given access to some of this (and it is not available as yet) for supply chain. When you sign up the process is very much like the VPP enrolment process and will require 2 factor authentication, Apple will require verification that you are a school, they may even phone your institution to verify this info with senior people or the head. One other change will require you to set up a unsecured wifi network if you don't want users to have access to wifi passwords as users will have to enter the password on activation.

At a guess I'd see this being fully set up and useable in around 6 to 8 weeks...

I'm getting no where with this:

Meraki guidance states:

In Dashboard, navigate to Organization > Settings > Apple Device Enrollment Program.

Download the Meraki_Apple_DEP_cert.pem file provided.

In another browser window, go to https://deploy.apple.com/ and sign in with the Apple ID tied to the desired organization.

Navigate to Device Enrollment Program > Manage Servers.

Click Add MDM Server.

I cannot see the Manager Servers!

When I go to : https://deploy.apple.com/ and sign in I have to verify my account and then I only get options to Manager Admin

Am I doing something wrong?

Did you not read the post above ???

You can not yet complete the enrolment process for DEP as it will ask you for a reseller ID to complete this and this portal is not yet available.

Called our supplier Tramscom this morning to try and get their Reseller ID but they seem to barely know anything about the whole thing either...

About time though, this will save me a lot of headache!

Spoke to high up in our reseller this week.

There are three Apple distributors in the UK that all resellers get their supplies from.

Of those distributors, the first is in the process of getting their systems set up with DEP, but even then it will be a while before resellers get their IDs.

If you order online direct from Apple, you will be the first to be able to use DEP in UK because their online systems are setup the same as US - ie, direct DEP transaction from end-user to Apple. It's the fact that UK uses Resellers and Distributors, adding two extra steps in the process, that is delaying the ability to use it as end-users.

Annoying because yet again we'll miss out on Apple developments by a month or two. (Rolled out staff iPads just before VPP v2* became available, rolling out student iPads just before DEP...)

(*License re-use rather than giving apps to users)

Pretty much what howartp said - I had our solutions provider ask their reseller for their DEP ID and the answer was that they know it will be ready in a few months but not available yet - even though you can begin the enrollment process on the Apple VPP website.

ARGH

VPP v2.0 has nothing to do with being able to push managed apps out to devices, it only applied to managed distribution licences which are revokable. If you had used Apple Configurator with Supervised devices you've always been able to pull redemption codes back from iPads.

Hi

Does anyone know that what I've just been told by our supplier is correct - that we can't use our existing school apple ID and have to register new IDs for both VPP and DEP?

Thanks!

Your supplier is incorrect.

If you enrolled into VPP before 14th Feb 2014 then you have to create a new Apple ID for DEP ONLY.

If you enrolled into VPP after this then you can use this same Apple ID to enrol into DEP.

I had an email today from Solutions Inc (an Apple reseller based in Brighton), they have their DEP reseller ID. I'm sure they'll be the first of many, but has anyone used them in the past? Are they a reliable supplier?

Most resellers now have their ID in place, unfortunately the 3 main distros of Apple kit are dragging their heels on the portals for this to complete.
