One of my team has just found that adding gstatic.com to the pupils filtering (Url allow) has fixed it for them in another school, so about to add that to a few schools manually to see if that fixes it. I am not sure where the best place to put this is, but I have several questions about these new devices * Who owns them, is it the school? (I have been told it will be but don't think the schools realise this) * With the windows ones, when intune expires what happens (have been told that its up to the school to pay to have their own system) *What happens to the 4g devices when they run out, in fact how long are they being paid for If the schools are expected to provide their own MDM after this then I really wish thy were all chromebooks as its a one off cost to have them managed! No school has budgeted to have extra devices If anyone has any clear guidence on whats going on please let us know!

Did you get this sorted? I use smoothwall and have been trying mosyle and have noticed that it works find in ISO 10 but does not want to work in IOS 12. I think its got something to do with the smoothwall certificate but am unsure.

I know this is 3 years old but I am having the same issue, can't get ipads working with Google classroom app on ipads, it woks through Safari though. Did you ever find the ports?

I currently have 100 "free licences" with meraki but 140+ ipads, so only 100 are on the MDM. I really like Meraki but if we were to pay for the extra licences I would have to pay for all 140 not just those above the first 100. I noticed that there was Mosyle (and maybe one by Comodo as well), please can you explain the limitations of it? Is it free for an unlimited number of ipads? Thank you.

I would like to have teachers emails in G Suite be encrypted just because teachers are probably sending data which should be encrypted without thinking about it. We only have a few licences in the school for Egress and it would be great to just know everyone had the option of encrypted email. I tried reading Googles info about S/MIME but got confused. Does it only work if certain conditions are met by both email sender and recipient? As its very new I wondered if anyone knew of a good guide to get working in schools or if it can be explained? Or, is it not really proper encryption and I have misunderstood what was being offered? Thank you

I know that Office 365 has free built in email encryption and I can't find that Google has (only between googles servers or those it trusts). The only thing I can find for Google is G Suite Message Encryption (GAME) which costs. I just found this extension, CryptUp, on the Chrome store, it says it uses the PGP (Pretty Good Privacy) standard. Is this ok for meeting the latest security requirements if sending an email that might contain details of a child? We got far into testing with LTSB and have decided to switch to using Education. In the future MS might start using the store and there is no easy way to put it back. Also we found that with LTBS there is no default photo viewer and you can't easily add that or the included camera app on with LTSB. Because of the anniversary release we are waiting for that update. Hopefully it will be out at the start of the school holidays and not the end!

Sorry if this is the wrong place, if I need more detailed info I will start a new thread. I am about to install for the first time, so am new to using this. Previously I had kept my AD and 365 separate but we are going to start using pupil accounts so this makes sense. Just a few questions; * I currently don't enforce strong policies on my AD (its a primary school), will it sync these unseucre accounts to 365? or will it give warnings? * When I run it will it let me choose which part of AD gets synced? * If I already have users in 365 will it recognise a conflict, put them as two users or merge them together? furby - Am running latest os x and server 3.2.1 Norphy - Any iPad that has been upgraded to iOS8 will not use the local caching server when dloading an app We use a .pac file file so that iPads can resolve the local mac server, have always used them for profile manager/caching server. Reading this post it seems that someone else has had a similar problem with iOS8 and pac file https://discussions.apple.com/thread/6559999 (his fix did not work for me) .pac file works fine with iOS7 and caching but stops as soon as iOS8 is installed. How do you you guys get your iPads to resolve your local caching servers?

Nothing - logs show no activity when d/loading an app on an iPad 4 with iOS8 on. The same iPad cached fine with iOS7. Strangely when I try and download an app from my iPhone 5 with iOS8 it shows caching activity. This seems to be affecting iPads with iOS8 on them across multiple school sites.

Since ios8 and the latest server update were released the caching server no longer works in our school. Has anyone else has this problem?

We just went if Office 365 because Google did not support editing Office documents. Wish we had known about this several months ago!

We are new to dirsync as well and have only tested it to a certain ad group... All our other users were entered using a CSV file. When we have entered users in 365 it says the status is "In Cloud" whereas when synced it says its synced with AD. I am not sure what will happen if you already have users in 365 who are also in AD, I presume it will not add anyone twice as the username is already there

Someone will correct me, but I think if you have Office on EES licence you qualify for Student Advantage, so you do not have to buy any licences for the Children, just the staff... And if you did not have the EES licence, then buying the staff licences would qualify you for Student Advantage anyway (as I understand), so in the example that James gave it would cost you £2,040

Does anyone have any further info on this? In my LA there are several schools that have a mac server set up for caching, but all schools in the LA go through the same external ip address. This has caused a problem which has meant that no school in the LA can now download any apps over wifi. Can anyone help with suggestions? Thanks
