  1. Hi @PhilNeal - wondered if we were one of the five or if our issues are related. Will DM yiu our school details now. Ta!
  2. I've come back to it as it seems like the best answer. The targeting will only allow you to set day of the week and time slots with and/or functions. I can narrow it down, but it won't be 100% as we have a two-week timetable cycle and the lessons are in different periods in week 1 and week 2. Thanks!
  3. BUMP! I've looked at: Group Policy Preferences Targetting - the printer is deployed via Print Management 'Deploy with Group Policy' rather than GPP Papercut Script - Can enable and disable the printer via scheduled task but staff need to be able to print to it without time restrictions (restrictions only for pupils) Applying a WMI Filter - I think this might be the best bet but I'm not sure how to go about getting it to combine a time and a date (using WMI Code Generator) Any help appreciated!
  4. Had a reply from Capita - looks like it is a firewall issue for us. Back to our LA we go.
  5. Hi I'm just wondering if there's a way of mapping printers to computers for only certain lessons, ie certain times a fortnight recurring. Has anyone done anything like this? I'm looking at GPP targeting editor and that has time/date items but it doesn't seem like the answer. Script that queries a timetable or similar?
  6. Hi - Yes! Pretty much exactly as you say. We have tickets open with capita and our firewall provider (LA) at present, I would guess it's getting stuck in the firewall somewhere but neither side have given us an answer so far.
  7. At primary level, the LAs tend to timetable technicians (or at least attend schools on a ticket based system). Secondaries mostly employ their own geeks as far as I'm aware!
  8. Hello!
  9. Thanks both - further googling seems to indicate I have some VMs to move...
  10. Yes... should I not have?
  11. Update - I found this article and disabled the second, unused NIC on DC3. It is now showing the correct IP in GPMC. However - the same error messages are present when I run 'detect now' under GPMC > status.
  12. Yep, all static IPv4 addresses. Other than the above, connectivity between all DCs seems normal and TCP/IP works properly.
  13. Morning Hope someone can help with this, I can't see anything relevant on technet! We rebuilt our domain over the summer and, by and large, it's gone well barring this one issue. We have inconsistent delivery of group policies to our clients (mostly ICT suites), resulting in PCs having to be gpupdate/restarted 2-3 times in order for users to receive the correct desktop environment. The event viewer on the clients show the 'Processing of Group Policy failed because of a lack of connectivity to one or more domain controllers' error (1129). The screen grabs below are both from 'DC3 (s2012r2)' - which is the one showing as 'inaccessible' in GPIS. We have three DCs at the moment - one of which was our test DC (s2012) from before summer when the new domain was in testing phase. I've labelled this as DC2 on the first screen grab below - its status shows as one server always processing no matter when I refresh the status report. DC3 also seems problematic, and it showing as a 169.254 address. I have full connectivity to the DC and can ping it from anywhere else on the domain, and I can ping out to other servers and workstations from it. It has Hyper-V installed on it so the adapter shows as vEthernet, but this is the same configuration as our baseline DC (DC1 - s2012r2) which isn't showing any errors in GPIS. The second screen grab shows the list of network adapters. I'm guessing GPMC on DC3 is looking at the wrong adapter for replication? How can I change this? Bit of a frustrating issue - hope someone can shed some light on it! Screen grabs: Thanks in advance!
  14. Had a few users report this, you are not alone! Haven't had a proper investigate yet but will report back once I do.
  15. Been there, they no longer stock this specific model. Cheers!
  16. We've decided to retire these laptops as we can no longer locate spares... does anyone have any suggestions as to what we can do with the 40 odd silver paperweights we've just acquired?
  17. Thanka for the replies. They be looking like this (apologies for the rubbish photo, time for a new phone I think):
  18. Long shot I know, but here goes: Does anyone have any replacement keyboards for RM Mobile One 310 laptops/notebooks that they are prepared to part with? We are no longer able to acquire parts for these devices through RM/their third party hardware supplier. Thanks!
  19. @BKGarry Our WSUS is controlled by our LA at the moment - and they aren't particularly on the ball at approving updates for us! We're bringing it back in house over the summer, it's just a shame I can't do it sooner to test - Thanks very much though, this could be the solution!
  20. Hello everyone I hope someone else has had all the fun with this and there's a simple answer I've overlooked! I want to install Office 2013 - including the OneDrive for Business client - on around 100 of our staff laptops. I want it to activate automatically (EES customer), and I don't want the First Run guff to pop up ('Use Recommended settings etc). The OneDrive for Business client, from what I'm told, is available as a standalone from the software section in Office 365, or as part of Office 365 Pro Plus retail. These both use Microsoft's new 'Click to run' installer method. The standalone installation is no good as it requires administrative rights and we have 100 or so clients to do. With the Full Office 365 Pro Plus install, from what I can tell, you can only really customise a few parts of the installation - which products to install, language, display options and update location. I'd like to activate the product (either by our KMS or by MAK), and edit a few registry items to disable the first run settings etc, and allow users to sign in using their organisation IDs. Office deployment toolkit with the Windows Installer package allowed me to do all of this, but it does not include the OneDrive for Business client. You cannot have the Windows Installer version of Office side-by-side with a Click to Run version as they are incompatible. I've been going back and forth with Microsoft trying to work out the best way of doing this but I have this feeling we're slowly digressing. Time is also ticking as I need to have a deployment method sorted (and tested) by the end of term! If anyone has any input on this it would be greatly appreciated! Many Thanks
  21. If you take the watch battery out of the main board and leave it for a few minutes, it should dump all the BIOS settings.
  22. We're starting from scratch with permissions really as there aren't really any in place at the moment apart from staff/pupil groups! Going to put our current (approx 1TB) staff share on a temporary network drive and tell everyone they've got six weeks to copy what they need. It's been migrated from server to server since the school was built so it's time for a refresh in that department. As I say, tested moving user areas and fileshares across and all seems happy.
  23. Hello I'm rebuilding our domain over the summer, and I'm just trying to work out what will inevitably go wrong. I've got the new domain up and running and have tested moving shares/server roles/users and all the other fun stuff. We're rebuilding all workstations on site - the image for which is nearly done - and just joining staff laptops to the new domain as and when they come in. I've got most of the software sorted and ready to put into GPOs on the new domain. Both servers are backed up nightly at the moment so if it goes totally t1ts up then I can roll back. Any cautionary tales/words of warning to share? Thanks!
  24. Apologies for resurrecting this, but did anyone ever order this motor ? Was it a straightforward fix? We have a load of these model Hitachis, we seem to come across this issue frequently and can't afford to replace all the units that break down. Thanks!
  25. Agree with most of the above. The web-based management side of them is excellent and is what really sells them. Once staff have been given a ten-minute overview they really take to it. The hardware is very sketchy. We've had a number of problems with devices (wireless charging) not powering on. In fairness their support has always been very good, but I haven't been advised of the fix above from @snagrat. Will try that next time the issue pops up.
