kennysarmy Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 Canon Global : Canon develops APS-H-size CMOS sensor with approximately 250 megapixels, the world's highest pixel count for its size so who's going to be the first to get one of these? Why would I ever get rid of my beloved FUJI
LosOjos Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 Canon Global : Canon develops APS-H-size CMOS sensor with approximately 250 megapixels, the world's highest pixel count for its size so who's going to be the first to get one of these? The problem with ridiculous pixel counts is that as impressive as they sound, there is a limit as to the actual resolution produced by the sensor. So although it may cram 250 MP in to the file, on an APS-H sensor I can't imagine the perceivable resolution being much better than a camera taking 50 MP photos. Add to that the fact you'd need an incredibly high quality lens to get close to that resolution, which would be many times more expensive than the camera itself, I can't help but feel this is just a bit of a headline grabber rather than an actually useful "breakthrough". It's like mobile phones boasting 10MP cameras - yeah, the file may be 10 MP, but a lot of it's just noise an interpolation when you zoom in because it's taken by a sensor the size of pea - a 15 year old, 4 MP dSLR would take a much better photo.

sted Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 Time to breakout the 1TB+ SD cards I think with that sort of res its time to shove a 3.5" sata socket/bay in the camera
woodham Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 Why would I ever get rid of my beloved FUJI im with you on that one love my xt-1
kennysarmy Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 im with you on that one love my xt-1 Did you upgrade from an X-E2 or X-E1?
woodham Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 canon 5d mk1 > x-e1 ( lens deal and very cheap mispriced) >xt-1 ive always had a Fuji of some sort be it film or digital still have an s5000 and my x-10 which is one of the nicest compacts ive ever used upgraded due to not using the 5d as too heavy for a full day out and too bulky/heavy and the af was nothing special so chopped the lot in along with some nice L glass for the full move to a lighter mirrorless setup with a couple of lens now using the xt-1 with 10-24 18-55 and 55-200 (and 50-230) saving for possibly the 35 f1.4 or maybe the new long zoom that they are talking about soon

sted Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 This looks cool: Pixelstick - lightpainting evolved | Home very cool but it looks like the kind of thing you use for a week then have to find somewhere to store for eternity
kennysarmy Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 very cool but it looks like the kind of thing you use for a week then have to find somewhere to store for eternity I agree - I've never really seen the point of this type of photography....it's usually a nice image spoilt by random splashes of colour.... Unless I'm missing something
kennysarmy Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 $349 in the US & £329 in the UK Another example of rip off Britain...
stevemcguigan Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 Just FYI, we're running a promo right now - 'edudisc' gets you $25 off, and we ship to UK. Not that you were all that interested in the first place! Cheers, gents. 3
mowgli82 Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 I agree - I've never really seen the point of this type of photography....it's usually a nice image spoilt by random splashes of colour.... Unless I'm missing something I imagine it has its uses, not sure how much I would use it but that doesn't mean I wouldn't mind having a play. Having done a quick search on Google images for pixel stick there are some nice and not so nice (IMO) examples of its uses
MrMat Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 Light painting is great fun. I've done my fair share of it whilst following some street artists around Birmingham. It's also no different to any other type of photography really, just a little more niche. Those that are into light painting will have endless uses for such a tool. I personally think it looks ace however, I'm not part of the niche really so I can't justify the cost.

All-Office Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 I've not picked up the camera for any "serious" photography in getting on for 12 months. I really ought to get back in to it, I used to really enjoy it. These are a couple of my personal favorites: [/quote Great Images!
