ICTDirect_Dave Posted November 10, 2014 Author Posted November 10, 2014 Assuming I get mates rates Dave! Otherwise I might have selective amnesia! Try me We'll see what we can do.
featured_spectre Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 Try me We'll see what we can do. Can I get mates rates on a nice flight stick? lol
GREED Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 I'll do some research! Really hadn't thought properly until this moment!!
ICTDirect_Dave Posted November 10, 2014 Author Posted November 10, 2014 Can I get mates rates on a nice flight stick? lol Nopee, we don't sell em
featured_spectre Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 To be fair, I know it isn't great but this caught my eye (for my budget). Eclipse Computers - Thrustmaster T-Flight Hotas X Joystick
DMcGuigan Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 Nopee, we don't sell em Get some in just to sell to the ED forum, the amount of people in here, you'd probably make a pretty penny
ICTDirect_Dave Posted November 10, 2014 Author Posted November 10, 2014 To be fair, I know it isn't great but this caught my eye (for my budget). Eclipse Computers - Thrustmaster T-Flight Hotas X Joystick The exact stick ZH suggested earlier in this thread
flyinghaggis Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 Also worth noting that it works pretty well with an Xbox360 controller (and presumably any similar dual thumbstick controller) if anyone doesn't want to buy a Joystick.
localzuk Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 The thrustmaster looked reasonable but it's too "cramped" for my liking, my hands are naturally further apart so I wanted something that fit that instead.
ICTDirect_Dave Posted November 10, 2014 Author Posted November 10, 2014 Get some in just to sell to the ED forum, the amount of people in here, you'd probably make a pretty penny Hmm, Maybe... Anybody interested? Would have to be a decent number of you for it to be worthwhile though...
Sunnyknight Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 Hmm, Maybe... Anybody interested? Would have to be a decent number of you for it to be worthwhile though... Might want one for my brother... so the sooner... the better... (Bare in mind you have to match or beat ebay *NEW* listed prices )
mikeyd101 Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 So had a bit of a chance to have a bash, here's my findings figured out some market values on stuff and realized that it was going to take a while to build credits trading at 4tons at a go so dumped shields and scanner and brought cargo space giving the sidewinder 10tons storage, but without any protection. also learned that you can escape interdiction (whatever its called) by following blue path, cut down on the number of encounters. So running a stripped out sidewinder hauling 10t cargo from x to y was able to make about 10k round trip, had a couple of scrapes but managed to get out intact each time by running. Managed to get upto about 70k and decided that would probably be enough to go up to next ship, the hauler with sticker price 52k with ship rebate about 48k i think. Then looked at the situation I was in hmmm hauler has 8tons by default so off to see what next level cargo costs ... 10k each, hmm. so back to more x / y round trips, making less because of 8t instead of 10t, and back to get larger cargo bays now upto 16tons (2 x 8t jobbies, could get more storage again by sacrificing shields and scanner, but deemed too risky having invested more money). Made a bit more and got basic mining laser and refinery and had first go at that. Is very hard with mouse and keyboard and 1 bin. Plan is to make more money probably doing mining for a while to get me to cobra, then outfit some decent lazers and look at some other aspects, piracy/bounty and more profitable longer trade routes. Also using a 360 controller and seems to work reasonably well, having 2 analog sticks is handy for yaw and strafe up/down so might stick with that for a while. 1

StevieM Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 The thrustmaster looked reasonable but it's too "cramped" for my liking, my hands are naturally further apart so I wanted something that fit that instead. You can separate the throttle and joystick if you prefer. Have them as far apart as you want (within reason!).
Arreks Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 You can separate the throttle and joystick if you prefer. Have them as far apart as you want (within reason!). Yup this. I sometimes play with my throttle on the left, keyboard in the middle and joystick on the right depending on the game.
localzuk Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 Got my X52 yesterday. MUCH easier to control things! Just gotta remember which button does what.
GREED Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 (edited) Oh god that's it i'm looking at desktop hardware now... how do I tell my daughter that xmas is cancelled because I need a new PC? @ICTDirect_Dave I do believe I will be asking a favour! Edited November 12, 2014 by GREED
Sunnyknight Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 Only reason i avoided x52 is because of the swivel buttons on top of the throttle.... WHAT WERE THEY THINKING
localzuk Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 Only reason i avoided x52 is because of the swivel buttons on top of the throttle.... WHAT WERE THEY THINKING You mean the 2 dials? They're an interesting pair, I've found a reasonable use for them controlling horizontal and vertical thrust at constant rates. The hat switch on the throttle is used for the same thing but for "bursts".
GREED Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 And now I'm questioning if my (decent) laptop will actually be suitable, at least for now... hummmm
Sunnyknight Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 And now I'm questioning if my (decent) laptop will actually be suitable, at least for now... hummmm Give me your money. I'll build you a monster rig. See if anyone can beat it P.s.... STOP USING LAPTOPS FOR GAMES!
GREED Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 (edited) Give me your money. I'll build you a monster rig. See if anyone can beat it P.s.... STOP USING LAPTOPS FOR GAMES! If someone wants to build me a suitable rig (I don't do online gaming, this is my one exception!), that meets and exceeds the requirements but not with billions of undeeded RAM, I'm open to that. I wanna test first if my laptop will suit and play the thing without issue so I'm not pressured into getting something quickly! Think I will buy and install the BETA and see how it gets on, at least I know then! Edited November 12, 2014 by GREED
featured_spectre Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 i doubt a laptop would do it justice unless it was geared for gaming. We have a high power spec laptop here and the GPU lets it down, and as such it is very choppy
