I was making silly money with mining, but i decided 4 hours of mining vs 4 hours of bounty hunting... hmmmmm. Pirates life for me. Anyway, i can't for the £%£$ life of me find Class 1 or 2 overcharged gimballed MCs. Keeping an eye in styx, aulin and ibootis, but no luck so far. Once i have x4 MC, i should be able to chew through anacondas. If not, then i'll have to look at something such as cannons / railguns (though railguns consume a lot of power!) Anyone know where to get some from, in Beta 3.05? P.s. Jump range is only 7ly....

No I think this means offline, as in not connected to Internet... which given the sheer size of the universe makes sense! Indeed. Solo play will still exist, but they decided that they simply couldn't make the solo play as fun and dynamic as they wanted if it was isolated and offline. I'm not a huge fan of "always online" games, eg. SimCity, but for some games, like those with 400 billion star systems, it kinda makes sense.

My game playing skills are trapped in the 80s and this is all WAY over my head. I'm having fun tootling around every now and again, but that's about my limit I'm afraid.
Arreks Posted November 18, 2014 Posted November 18, 2014 I'm not concerned that they pulled the 'actually offline' solo mode, but a LOT of people are angry because they promised it as a feature during the kickstarter - there was no "might", it was literally "we will have an offline solo mode". From the sounds of it, you'd only have to connect to the Internet in offline mode when you make transactions etc on the market which isn't very bad.. but people probably wanted to play it without needing a connection at all.

I did the exact opposite I sold my viper and went to a cobra mk3 and took on mining guess it quickly gets boring ... although palladium and gold return Is too good to miss. I killed anacondas with torpedo's but It would be hard to earn much since the ammo is 15k a shot....

Mining was brill with palladium, raking in about 14k per ton per 10 - 15 mins? So in an hour i could make about 50 - 60k? That's just off Palla. Then you have all the other metal / minerals to sell. It was good, but it's just.... sooooooooooooooo slow. Point, hold mouse, extract all resources from the rock. Open cargo scoop, aim and scoop 1 by 1... rinse and repeat. Even then you have to transport it back, and unless your good at evading (evaded about 20+ interdictions yesterday), you could face some very hostile players / npcs. Torpedos is like.... a major nooooooooooo. I heard heat seek missiles or dumbdumb missiles were more efficient. I changed my thought to x2 cannons OC and x2 missile racks (seekers) high impact. Will cost a B..... and will be a B.... to find.... EDIT: Im also looking to buy a decent fuel scoop. The viper is a money drainer with the amount it costs to refil. Viper is an all out elite fighter. Cobra is better for all round jobs and has much more cargo space. Viper is made for combat, so it overpowers the cobra in speed and maneuverability. One thing i don't like, is that the cobra has a better jump range than the viper. Having to find some decent core kit to get my viper to 10ly jump. It means im limited in the systems i can visit.

Viper is still my favourite ship so I'm not biased or anything, but the Cobra has larger default hull, larger default shield, more power and hardpoints (iirc) and the speed is around the same for both at default t1 thrusters with the Viper having slightly more maneuverability. If you upgrade the Viper's thrusters the increase to speed and maneuverability is a lot more substantial, in the previous betas the Viper really was amazing but now it's not quite as good.

It still has a place in my heart, honest! just after flying it in every beta for the last 6 months and noticing them downgrade it a little bit each time, you can't help but lose interest a tiny bit!

I ended up being like a bank towards the end, trading commodities, keeping spreadsheets etc. I cashed out my account for about £800 when I gave up on Eve, selling off everything I had for real world cash. I returned items to their respective owners, but I had so much left over from accounts where there was inactivity of over a year, that I sold it all off.
