BKGarry Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 (edited) So I am on a rare day where all the SLT and the Exams Manager are all in training and technical calls are not coming in at the rate of 25 an hour with a technician down, so I get to stay in the office I share by myself (the techie team are in a different office) so I am enjoying streamlining spottily music on my lovely loud iMac speakers. Just wondering what music you guys use to pick yourselves up and make your work go that little bit quicker. As I am typing this, I have to admit, I am listening to Let it Go, but just had Turn Back Time by Cher and it really picked up, next on the play queue is Walking on Broken Glass by the wonderful Annie Lennox :-) Time to share people, nothing can be as embarrassing as what I have just admitted to listening to :-) BKGarry Edit: If you wish to dip into my eclectic musical tastes, here is my Spotify playlist Edited September 30, 2014 by BKGarry
arwen Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 Generally Team Rock Radio or Absolute Classic Rock. Or I just listen to my own via Google Play Music. :-)
plexer Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 Radios and headphones are banned here. Ben
BKGarry Posted September 30, 2014 Author Posted September 30, 2014 @plexer that's just a form of cruel and unusual punishment
plexer Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 I work in the IT dept for a well known cleaning product manufacturer and radios are banned in the factory for obvious reasons but banned with headphones in offices so people talk to each other although I don't know what's wrong with low level background music personally. Ben
rickjames Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 Have my headphones in to drown out the rather substantial noise levels I come across. Wouldn't survive without them.
themightymrp Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 For me, anything rock or heavy metal Not exactly easy listening but you can't do a proper bit of work with doing some air guitar/drum work lol
ICTDirect_Dave Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 We love a bit of War of the Worlds here. Still finding it hard to decide between the gravitas of Ruchard Burton in the original, or the fuller, more dramatic Liam Neeson in the New Generation. 1
cobra427col Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 Got my ol' dj lappy hooked up to my ol' PA gear and it's on random- no speakers on a desk here - its desk on speakers and the Amp is barely on 1 (just had Marvin Gaye into Lady GAGA)
BKGarry Posted September 30, 2014 Author Posted September 30, 2014 Ooooooo haven't listened to WOTW in ages, just put on the New Generation version, lets see what happens ay :-)
CAM Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 XFM all day every day in my office. I used to listen to XFM but now I prefer Absolute Radio. Christian O'Connell has a way better breakfast show.
Qwedsa182 Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 Well we have chosen songs based on events or lack of things i.e. No Milk Today take a listen to our morning mix
stitch Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 (edited) Used to listen to Real Radio, but now I listen to Absolute 80s Edited September 30, 2014 by stitch
tmcd35 Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 Used to listen to music at the last place, here I think it's frowned upon. So much so that I don't even put music on during the holidays now! If I was it'd be my iTunes collection, just over 5,000 songs and counting. Can't be done with radio anymore. @BKGarry, I see nothing wrong with your music choice so far. I can certainly find a lot worse in my collection if I tried. Was listening to The Lion Sleeps Tonite on the way home from work yesterday (and singing along to it). I have a 30 minute drive so most of my music listening happens then. I'm in an R.E.M. mood (again) this week.
BKGarry Posted September 30, 2014 Author Posted September 30, 2014 Well my music will be in full swing this weekend, as I am 30 tomorrow and will be going on Saturday to mark the event, and there will be a list of songs that must be played by DJs before the end of the night, "What do you mean you won't play Rocketman on a DnB night, do you not know who i am?"
Joanne Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 I'm currently going through the "Now that's what I call Music" albums on Spotify for the laugh. I'm on Now 54. Started in the 40's because it's my era innit...
tmcd35 Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 "What do you mean you won't play Rocketman on a DnB night, do you not know who i am?" That's genius, I want to hear it, make it happen! A DnB version of Rocketman. Don't usually go in for that sort of thing but something tells me that will work and might even be better than the original.
LeMarchand Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 Have yet to find a radio station I can stand, and my workspaces aren't really suitable to play music in - plus I'm too idle to curate my playlists to ensure child-friendliness so not much music @ work for me . When I had the school to myself over the summer hols I did crank up my Abney Park playlist.
SovietRussia Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 Nice bit of trance Perfect for Programming!
BKGarry Posted September 30, 2014 Author Posted September 30, 2014 @tmcd35 just found this youtube version, not too bad, but not quite bassy enough 1
themightymrp Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 Old 16bit game music normally. Have you ever listened to the clubbed up remixes of classic 80's games by Instant Remedy? So awesome Instant Remedy by Instant Remedy on Spotify
