Cache Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 Just curious, over the last year I've upgraded a load of RAM in 70 odd PC's and now have a stack of spare RAM sticks sitting in the corner of my office. Curious if anyone has any ideas what I could do with it? It's not the best in the world, 2 x 512MB DDR2 PC2-5300, but still, anyone have any suggestions other then recycling?
Garacesh Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 Although DDR2 doesn't come cheap these days, I still suspect you'd have trouble shifting 512 sticks on the likes of eBay etc. Unless you can think of some creative art project, recycling may be your only option. 1
ICTDirect_Dave Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 Bulk sell them on ebay. Some trader will pick them up. You'll not sell them individually, but if you've got 140 sticks somebody will take them 1
BKGarry Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 They have holes the perfect size to make a nice geeky keyring :-) 1
Garacesh Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 Build a Death Star Death star with DDR2? What next, IDE drives and floppy disks?! You'd never blow up Alderaan with a budget Death Star.
Garacesh Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 you sure about that one @Garacesh Might be able to blow up an orange, maybe. But not a planet
Chris_ Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 Make a Christmas wreath to decorate your office! You'll be the envy of all the other departments! 1
eyetea Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 Learn to juggle, not just 3 sticks but all of your stash at once.
abillybob Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 I'm in the same dilemma, I've got 30 2GB DDR3 Laptop sticks lying about that now have no purpose as they came out of the Macs and where replaced with a 1x 8GB stick for VMWare. Hmmm what to do with all this RAM!
Garacesh Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 DDR3 laptop memory shouldn't be difficult to shift, I wouldn't think? A lot of laptops still only come with 1GB, or they have 2GB but an empty expansion slot.

LosOjos Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 @abillybob - if you're willing to sell one of those DDR3 sticks cheapy cheap, I could do with one...
abillybob Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 No they work in any laptop But they did come from a Mac. Send me an offer over and I'll talk to the head!!
LosOjos Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 I only need one for my netbook (personal). Never mind
6Foot2 Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 Here is an idea that used a couple of years ago when we had an excess of RAM: Link: http://www.edugeek.net/forums/jokes-interweb-things/106184-geek-christmas-wreath.html http://i.snag.gy/i9Uvb.jpg 1
Cache Posted September 22, 2014 Author Posted September 22, 2014 Cheers all, will give ebay a shot, although might try the Christmas Wreath and death star if I have no luck (might even try the wreaths any way as I like the look of them! )
6Foot2 Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 ...although might try the Christmas Wreath and death star if I have no luck (might even try the wreaths any way as I like the look of them! ) If you do please post your result: Although in theory the item should, in theory, be a close copy of the original ours was different from the one that inspired it and I perhaps yours will have variations too?
6Foot2 Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 you sure about that one @Garacesh Same image but larger: http://i.snag.gy/JOC0j.jpg
