Joanne Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 Who has had a sports massage here? My PT has started doing it and I'm bruising. Is this his inexperience? Don't get me wrong, I was able to do a front loaded squat with my elbows right up after he had finished, but I'm left with finger bruises on my arms :-/ am I just a delicate little flower?
Arreks Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 I've never had one personally, but I have heard they can be quite.. vigorous depending on the masseur so I wouldn't be worried about bruising. If you're worried, perhaps ask your PT if it's normal? That doesn't mean you're not a delicate little flower, though. 1
hardtailstar Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 I have one evry month usually and do ache but never noticed bruises.
eyetea Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 My boss has quite a few - he says they help but they're not as such pleasant!
Oaktech Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 We have an onsite physio here and yeah, she's vicious, effective but vicious. I've been left with bruises, but I've only needed massage to that level once to dissipate muscle knots around my shoulder blades
Joanne Posted July 17, 2014 Author Posted July 17, 2014 Well it's not like... really bad... I always seem to have bruises these days :-/
Arreks Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 Looks more like you've been abducted by aliens than had a massage, but yeah they don't look like anything to worry about at all in my opinion.
Joanne Posted July 17, 2014 Author Posted July 17, 2014 I think I'm just worried about what people might think. They know I go to the gym anyways, so they probably won't even ask.
Joanne Posted July 17, 2014 Author Posted July 17, 2014 don't use machines yo! bar with weights all the way! Or body weight... that's normally plenty 1

Joanne Posted July 17, 2014 Author Posted July 17, 2014 Yeah... nobody has said anything thus far. I think maybe if I was sad and withdrawn they might. Or maybe if I started drinking this Malibu I have been given they might :-P
Bananas Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 Do keep an eye on it if you're bruising easily though.

featured_spectre Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 IF you're bruising easily from a massage then it could be an indication of other issues. I regularly get deep tissue massages due to various issues, I ache for maybe half hour after and the headache that always follows is annoying but for the next fortnight I am good then I decline and go again. I get them every 3 weeks and they work wonders.
Joanne Posted July 17, 2014 Author Posted July 17, 2014 (edited) Do keep an eye on it if you're bruising easily though. Yeah, I'm seeing him in about half an hour, so will talk to him about it then. TOO DEEP TOO FAST! Lucky you, I've only been given tonnes of chocolate! This was for sorting a laptop IF you're bruising easily from a massage then it could be an indication of other issues. Never been manipulated (physically!) like this before, so suppose I don't know how I react to be squeezed... oh err missus. Edited July 17, 2014 by Joanne 1
