What is the difference? Is Airserver what you install on the machine, and Airplay what is used to display from iPad to monitor? (or onwards to projector).

How easy is this to set up school wide? Has anyone done it?

Thanks

Air server is the software you install on the pc snd airplay is function on the iPad to send the display stream across to the pc. Should be fairly easy to deploy site wide if you wanted to. Have a look through their support FAQ on their website as its quite helpful.

In terms of have we done it? Nope we personally couldnt get it reliably to work and thus stuck with apple tvs in all rooms.

However there a large number of people on here who have got it to work and im sure they will be along anytime soon and should be able to tell you more.

I have used and deployed airserver in the past. From the testing stage it worked well and once installed after purchase was fine. We set it so that the software didn't auto run when the computer started and that staff had to run a shortcut to the software to stop it from constantly broadcasting from 40+ machines. I left the school that this was setup in shortly after it went live so I'm not sure how much it is used or how well it is running recently but from intial tests and the couple of weeks it was running before I left it looked ok.

Works well for us on over 50 machines. Cheap as well if you buy that many licences( around about £3 a seat if i recall ) havent had any complaints or issues as yet and its been in about 6 months.

We've got it here and it works well, had to put in a Bonjour gateway between our Windows PCs and iPad SSID. Nice thing about Airserver is that we could deploy it through GPO with the licence key installed as part of it too :)

Do you have any notes on this? Currently, as its small scale I just do it by hand but when we roll it out I could do with a better strategy.

I keep meaning to put something on my blog about it but never get the time :)

The basics go is we have a Ubuntu Linux virtual machine with 3 nics on it - 1 going to our server VLAN, 1 to our Windows clients VLAN and another to the iPad WiFi VLAN.

Sitting on that VM is a bit of software called Avahi (Avahi (software) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) it just rebroadcasts the Bonjour packets between the two networks.

Oh sorry I meant getting it to install the licence key without manual intervention - should have made that clear.

Is anyone experiencing issues with video playback from iOS 8 devices and AirServer?

We are running the latest AirServer 3.0.16 on Windows 7 x64

iPad is running iOS 8.1 (12B410)

Symptoms:

set ipad to mirroring with AirServer PC

record video(s) on ipad - mirrors the screen fine. You can start and stop video recording at will and it still mirrors the screen fine.

Playback the newly recorded video from Photos - first video plays back fine no issues, swipe left or right to the next video and press play and AirServer crashes. The user has to click on Close Program and re-launch AirServer.

Can anyone else test this for me and see if they get the same experience?
