Hahaha nice. I was busy putting a switch back in one of our cabs and missed the announcement. I have to say this is the first time I have ever won anything and I mean ever!!!

 

Well - not counting the chocolate pizza from one of @Millgate promos

I love football, I love England, I saw us win the World Cup in 66 and just once more in my lifetime, I'd like to see us win it again.

 

Please, please, please , just once more in my lifetime.

 

Or if not that, don't EVER let Holland win it.

Holland are the best team to have NOT won the world cup. They deserved it in 2010, and were very unlucky against Spain then. This world cup however, I think its going to the Germans. Not because I am biased, but their form is amazing, and they made short work of Portugal who are Europes #3 team and #4 in the world rankings. since August 2013, Germany haven't lost a game, despite playing some big hitters (Sweden, Italy, Portugal, England, Poland).

After 1988, I just couldn't stand another four years of 'Dutch Masters', 'Aristocrats of Football' and all that blah from a country that has appeared in the WC Final three times, but hasn't won it once.

There were 3 world cups where England couldn't field a squad good enough to play.

There were 3 world cups where England didn't qualify to the group stages.

There were 2 world cups where England couldn't get past the group stages (this year would be the 3rd if that happened again).

There were 6 world cups where England couldn't get past the quarter finals.

There was 1 world cup where England couldn't get past the semi final.

There was 1 world cup where England made it too the final (and won).

 

Also, England have NEVER won a Euro competition...

 

Granted Hollands record isn't much better (infact they've not qualified 7 times, and didn't enter 3 times) however when they have entered the world cup, they have a better record than England do in getting to the advanced stages. 3 finals, 1 semi, 1 quarter final out of 8 world cups.

 

 

I wont take away from English pride, because I do wish them well, but history of the players suggests it just wont happen.

It's still possible, however unlikely.

 

New York Mets, 1969. Never won anything until that year, where they won it all.

(I only know this because of Men in Black III, but shh!)

100% record.

 

Holland 3 Finals 0 wins.

 

Also 100% record, but not the right kind.

 

Never mind how many semis, quarters etc blah blah.

 

Winning is everything, second is nowhere.
