tech-man Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 Hello Looking at firewall options here, would be interested to know what people use... Thanks!
cpjitservices Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 PfSense here. Welcome to pfSense - Open Source Firewall and Router Distribution - pfsense.org
twin--turbo Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 At work.. On friday... ASA5520.. Today... No idea yet. At home. My Draytek. Rob
jamesfed Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 Smoothwall Really warmed up to it over the past few months as a UTM device.
twin--turbo Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 Realy you need to define some paramaters to determine a correct device. Rob
cpjitservices Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 We have watch-guards also, but they run PfSense
Homer Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 Smoothwall here - works very well. Have pfsense configured on a box to run in a failure situation, excellent piece of software.
cpjitservices Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 I have pfsense now running on a couple of different platforms... Server based and on a Watchguard.
Timeout Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 We use two WatchGuard XTM 535's - so an internal and external with a DMZ in the middle, web filtering is via Smoothwall on our own hardware.
Tall_Paul Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 TMG 2010 here. Am starting the hunt for a replacement though.
Marshall_IT Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 (edited) Fortinet - fortigate Been using it a few months, seems good. Will be using some of the layer7 features once we launch our 1to1 iPad scheme and update to version 5 in the next few months. Edited February 7, 2014 by Marshall_IT

Marshall_IT Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 At Work - various - hardware (Cisco) and software (TMG 2010) At Home - Sophos UTM 9 Sophos utm 9 for at home!? Overkill?
featured_spectre Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 Home...squid and dansguardian. Not much filtered though to be fair. Just stops guests and visitors abusing our system. Work cisco and watchguard
Gatt Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 Sophos utm 9 for at home!? Overkill? I don't see it that way - I have the home edition (free) which is good at fltering the web for my son and also protecting us 1
jonwitts Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 I don't see it that way - I have the home edition (free) which is good at fltering the web for my son and also protecting us Just having a look at Sophos UTM Home now...
MatthewL Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 Draytek at home at the moment. At work its Draytek (used for ADSL modem) into a Sophos UTM, not my choosing, would prefer to use Vigor 120's into a Watchguard or PFSense box.
Marshall_IT Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 Ah okay, thought it was a bigger paid thing... Looking it up now.
