Well it's not been a good 2 weeks for my running :-(

After my big run last week, I then spent 4 days in bed ill....not an ideal way of starting my taper.

Came back into work on Monday, then on Tuesday I moved a box of paper from our reprographics department to our office and as I put the box on the floor.....my back went ping....I'm now hobbling round the office....pretty much guaranteed that I will not be running in the half marathon on Sunday. Pretty devastated to miss out, I've put the hard work in, I've trained hard and now I've got to miss out :-(

not good. Resting is the only option for now - as tempting as it might be to get running as soon as possible.

completed the Forest of Dean Half Marathon yesterday. 2:05:27. Quite pleased with that. It was a hard course with hills around mile 5 and 7; quite crowded for the first 4 to 5miles which kept the pace reasonable

18miles of training completed on Saturday. A few more long runs to do before Blackpool

Standing around marshalling at the Swindon Mad March Hare on Sunday.

12 seconds from a PB at the park run on Saturday and my best time of 2017 and on the current course....

Pleased as went to bed on Friday night with achy knees from playing over an hour of football on our Astro after work ....

White Horse Half Marathon yesterday. Heat killed me on what was a reasonable course. My slowest HM time to date at 2:14

Was ready to jack it in at mile 10 but fortunately a drinks station loomed into sight.

Didn't run it myself but a couple of my friends did and both said it was brutal and both ran their slowest times in a long while

ran my last long run on Good Friday ahead of Blackpool marathon.

21miles in 3:29:02. In the past I've dropped to about 12 minutes miles from about mile 15/16 but all the miles show as in either the 9 or 10 minute range throughout, with the last mile the quickest at 9:16. Very happy with that.

Great work! Good luck with the Blackpool Marathon.

I finally got back out running yesterday after what feels like an eternity with my sore back which kept me out of the Wilmslow Half Marathon.

Just 5km and is was such hard work!!

Blackpool Marathon done. Very low key compared to what I'm seeing/hearing about London/Southampton but very well organised and a nice bit of bling and a tech t-shirt.

4:30:27 event time; 4:26:30 running time (I stopped at each 6mile water station to have a gel and to take on water). Last 2 miles were my slowest with 11minute miles.

Heading to Milton Keynes Half Marathon on Monday.

ran the 2nd of the Bath Two Tunnels 10ks yesterday and collected the 2nd of the interlocking medals (I confess that the novelty of the bling was part of the attraction to running this series)

Really strange running through the old railway tunnels but very enjoyable. The echo of my footfall really helped with keeping a good rhythm going. Didn't enjoy hitting the daylight when emerging from the tunnels though :-)

My left knee is giving problems so I'm going to be taking a break from running for a short while to let it recover. 3rd of the Two Tunnels 10K events is 9th July so plenty of time to be ready for this...... and then Dublin Marathon training starts again.

@jdoyle I ran those tunnels for the first time last weekend (while visiting) and the echo definitely takes getting used to. I felt like someone was right behind me when they were actually a good 50m back.

Ran the Imerys marathon yesterday which was an interesting experience running around the clay pits near St Austell in Cornwall. 80% of the run was on trails which took their toll after climbing the many hills. Very enjoyable but won't be rushing back to do that one next year. Walking is okay so far today.

I quite enjoyed the echo and found my pace changed quite a bit in the open parts (possibly a mix of coming into sunshine, a bit hotter). There were quite a few runners in the tunnel going each way because of the different wave start times and the variety of events.

Well done on the Imerys run!

On Saturday I completed the Classic Quarter. This is a 44mile trail run from Lizard Point (most southerly point of mainland britain) to Lands End (most westerly point of mainland britain). It took nearly 10hours in consistent wind and rain. I have been training for this for the best part of a year after training for 6 months last year before I twisted my ankle and 6 months this year so it was an emotional event.

Walking is now a painful experience but I can tick ultramarathon off of my sporting bucket list just in time to get ready for the birth of our first child. What I learnt the most is that even when you feel like you can't carry on just keep travelling forwards whether it be a walk or a jog and in the end you will get to the end.

Good luck everyone with any upcoming events. I will be taking a rest from training and racing.

haven't done too much running of late due to knee injury and the annual bout of hayfever. A couple of dire training runs done with no speed/strength in the legs and the feeling that I may have indulged in too much beer of late.

Went over to Chippenham on Wednesday for the River Run 5k. Much too hot for me even with a 7:30pm start. No bling but a tech shirt for finishers.

3rd of the Bath 2 Tunnels 10k runs on Sunday coming which may prove challenging if the heat continues.

I've decided to give the couch to 5k a go and was wondering what motivational music to do it to. I can listen to most things so hit me up with some suggestions please

Good stuff. which one have you opted for?

I ran part of the old Swindon Half Marathon route on Saturday - my knees really don't like hills.....

Meridian Windsor Half Marathon, route looks OK, do some regular runs on parts of the route and looks like we run down the worst hill.

Download the NHS Couch to 5k podcasts, there will be music as well as "Laura" telling you when to run and when to stop, walk etc. There's a different one for each week so you can get your timings right.
