Hefferzzzz Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 Grumpiness is for life not just for Christmas. Really annoys me with all these 'Festive Grumps' ruining things and jumping on the bandwagon. Same as all those wannabees who will be in the gym next month. Piffle! 1
Smee Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 Can't decide if I'm looking forward to Christmas or not. Middle son was due home on the 13th but got diverted to the Phillipines so won't be home til next year. Feels kinda strange without the nosiest (and most childish lol) one in the family being there :$

dany2010 Posted December 17, 2013 Author Posted December 17, 2013 Glad I'm not alone then. I think as you get older it gets worse as it tends to just be a repeat of last year. The only thing that has changed in 15 years is we go over to one family member as he can't make it to ours any more. When I win the lottery on Wednesday I'm going to book a holiday I think. I am a bit happier though as I found I get my office back to myself so can play music, clean the room properly, be anti social when I want to be.
CAM Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 I'm grumpy because: 1) Getting the Christmas reports sorted at work. 2) The weather sucks. 3) No end of car-related problems! Roll on Fri.
pcstru Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 I hate Christmas. I hate walking round shops getting sickly Christmas tunes pumped into my head, contemplating billions of tonnes of tat that has been shipped half way round the world only so it can be wrapped in more tat, before being quickly discarded for the useless junk that it is. It is a celebration of the unthinking rampant consumerism that is putting our world to ruin. How can you look upon some glitter strewn plastic bauble and feel anything but utter horror - we rape the planet for *that*? Give me a nice piece of wood and shut me in the workshop till the new year (but keep me away from the power tools), anything to escape the merciless onslaught of mass marketing wrapped up as sickly faux cheer. Bah - humbug!

sparkeh Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 Yeah... but PRESENTS!! Yus, free stuff! And time off work! I love Christmaaaaaaaaaas! 1
tmcd35 Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 And time off work! It's true what "they" say - "Every cloud as a silver lining".
laserblazer Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 I became ungrumpy and put a nativity scene wallpaper up. 1
sparkeh Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 I became ungrumpy and put a nativity scene wallpaper up. Hooray! \o/ Everytime someone becomes ungrumpy, a reindeer smiles
laserblazer Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 As the kids logged on I said to the teacher "See, I've become ungrumpy." "Not so you'd notice," she replied. Sarky old moo.

andrew_91090 Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 I turn into the Gringe when I first see anything Christmasy, like when you see decorations going up in NOV!! Really annoys me, but for me, Christmas is more about giving presents, so I'm happy on Christmas day
CESIL Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 I may be (not maybe actually) a grumpy git but I did put the xmas decorations up on the Intranet pages although when I say put them up they actually appear automatically appear after December 1st and vanish before we return in January. On the other hand if I didn't include falling snow on the pages then I don't suppose many people would notice the difference! Hmmmmmpf *walks off mumbling to himself*
Gatt Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 Grumpyness is for life, not just for Christmas.. Hrmphh!
Alkaline Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 I am always grumpy at Christmas, the whole money making perfect christmas crap makes me feel quite ill.
round2it Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 Broke out the 5p christmas wrap i got in january and started to wrap the usual tat also bought in january I hate christmas so much. Christmas concert to get out the way then its a never ending job pushing the mobile gaming units round the school because the last week of term is just a waste of time no educational value.
dany2010 Posted December 17, 2013 Author Posted December 17, 2013 Apparently at our receptionist daughters school Mary in the nativity is being played by a boy as they don't want to appear sexist.

FishCustard Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 Apparently at our receptionist daughters school Mary in the nativity is being played by a boy as they don't want to appear sexist. Mary being played by a boy: interesting, and a nice take on things (particularly if all the roles are gender-flipped) Mary being played by a boy just because they don't want to appear sexist: wat.
hardtailstar Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 Im not grumpy about christmas, just not having anything to do with it till the 25th. It just is over commercialised nowadays
tmcd35 Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 I really, really hate shops that play Christmas music (that would be all of them then!). I went in to Sainsbury's the other day to do the weekly shop. Aw, the pain! No choice but to listen to the drival. Do they realise it has the reverse effect than they want to achieve? Far from envoke "Christmas cheer", it made me want to race around the shop as quickly as possible and just get away from it. It's the staff I feel sorry for. Used to work at PC-World. 4-5 weeks of the same 12 songs over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over... again. Arrggghhhh!!!!!
