The problem with megapixel counts in cameras is that the sensor is always the same (tiny) size, so as the quantity of pixels goes up, the quality of each of those pixels goes down. Hence the HTC One's 5MP camera, using 2.0 micron pixels for better low-light performance. I can't think of any photo I've ever taken on my smartphone I'd want printed out at a size sufficiently large to show a difference between 8MP and 12MP anyway. RAM uses more battery as well, 2GB has always been ample in my Nexus 4 so can't think it's worth the price increase & battery decrease to go higher. More storage would always be a godsend in a Nexus, mind. 16GB in the N4 is painful still

The Nexus 4 was released on the same day in the US and UK (13th Nov 2012), but at different times - approx. 9am PST and 8am GMT respectively. It wasn't possible to pre-order the smartphone through the Play Store, so you had to keep constantly F5'ing the page at the time they went on sale in the hope that the 'Add to basket' button would magically appear and you could get through the checkout process before the page timed out. Some people found that the N4 would disappear from their basket when they got to the checkout, while others were able to order it successfully, but got charged twice or had their order cancelled later that day. In the UK, the N4 sold out in less than 15 minutes and overloaded Google's servers - something that should be impossible especially considering that Apple's servers do not have any issues when new iPhone's are released!!! I was on my way to work when they when they went on sale in the UK, so had to wait several weeks for the Google Play Store to be restocked (4th December 2012). Shortly after I purchased mine, they sold out again very quickly. It wasn't until 30th January 2013 that you could order a N4 again and even then you had to wait 1-3 weeks for it to be delivered. Hopefully Google will be able to better anticipate demand this time and won't mess up the launch of the Nexus 5! If you are thinking of getting one on release day, prepare to be disappointed. 1

Hopefully we will start to see smartphones with 64GB and 128GB next year, but I doubt it. 32GB will probably be the maximum amount of storage for the next 2-3 years. 1

I will probably get the N5 as I really need to upgrade my S2 which has a cracked screen but have read that the Galaxy S5 (due out in April ish) will be a mega powerful phone with 4gb of ram and up 64gb extra mem although specs are leaked and could be wrong.

Google have said that they won't give any preferential treatment to Motorola despite owning the company. I'm sure Google doesn't want to jeopardise relationships with other OEMs. I reckon Sony should make a Nexus phone next. They haven't had a go yet.

edutech4schools Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 (edited) I went in to the phone shop to have a look at the lg g2 which is meant to be a similar build to the coming Nexus 5. I must say the LG G2 phone is one fantastic looking phone, I actually prefered it to all the Samsung ones in the shop although you do have to get over the buttons being placed on the back of the phone, which is a silly place to put them. EDITED from original post The main differences between the Nexus5 and the G2 (leaked specs) is the N5 has a slightly smaller screen, lower spec camera and smaller battery. My issue now is that I prefered the size of the G2 screen and the camera quality was blinking awesome and something I would want. Not sure I can justify the difference in price but would really like the LG phone. What do I do. The G2's hardware looks very nice but the biggest issue for me would be LG's software/skin. Not only is it ugly, but there are also some annoying bugs (like the missing overflow button).
