The 16GB model is a no brainer, especially since the 8GB Nexus 4 has approx. 5.67GB free space out-of-the-box.

 

If I had the 8GB N4, I would have run out of space already despite not storing any music or videos on my phone. The 16GB model has less than 13GB free. :(

Does the Nexus 4 come with an SD slot like the Samsung Galaxy 3/4 does? Also wouldn't it be a good idea to buy a broken S3/4 (broken screen) and just install a new digitizer? I know a couple of people who have done that, and they haven't had any problems with their phone since :) Edited by Chaddy

Google wants you to store everything on their servers. There isn't any reason why they couldn't release a 32GB, 64GB or 128GB model. :(

 

The flash memory used in smartphones costs less than $5 for 8GB (64Gb)! :eek:

Sadly not. There will never be a SD card slot in a Nexus device.

 

If you need to store lots of pictures, music and/or videos, I think a good alternative to an SD card would be the Seagate Wireless Plus external hard drive plus this modified firmware which turns into a portable battery-powered Linux server. :)

What sort of price am I looking at to either

 

One

 

Get a faulty S3 handset and a replacement screen & digitizer unit

 

Two

 

Get a faulty S4 handset and a replacement screen & digitizer unit

 

Also what tools would I need etc and are there any good guides

My friend got his S3 (cracked screen) for £150 and a replacement digitizer for £22.00

 

Where from as looking at the min can only find handsets and replacement parts that cost more together than just buying a refurb or new as @Arthur has already said

Thanks for the heads up.

 

I don't store movies on my phone and photos taken with the camera get uploaded automatically to Dropbox so no issues deleting them if I take too many! :)

 

However, only 5GB of free space on the 8GB model is still rather small.

Not a big fan of super sized smart phone screens which I assume the N5 will be.

It's just as well the Nexus 5 is physically smaller than the Nexus 4, while still having a larger screen then. :)

Don't think I could go to an android then as I need at least 32gb if not more onboard storage as I have a lot of music and some videos that I prefer to be on the device rather then in the cloud as I don't always get signal and now with works new wireless which is only for work devices I can't connect to a wifi network at work.

The Galaxy Note 3 might be a good smartphone to get in that case. There's a 64GB model and with a 64GB microSD card that would give you 128GB of storage. If you need more than that, a 1TB+ wireless hard drive might be better.

 

Also, if the Android device supports USB-OTG, you can use a standard USB flash drive with a suitable adapter (or a micro-USB flash drive like the ones shown below).

Aggh! Now I know about the screen size, I want to wait for the Nexus 5! :D

My phone arrived Friday. I'm waiting for the new sim card, but all essential apps plus most others installed. Loads of space left, battery lasting day, so loving it.

 

My only worry is what am I going to use as a hand warmer in the winter without my overheating Sensation?

Still waiting for my micro sim, but on wireless, I'm loving the Nexus 4. The battery is lasting days as opposed to the Sensation.

 

On the Sensation, I think I have found the problem with its slow response. I found the Fastboot option was ticked.... unticked and fingers crossed.

Thanks, I'm pretty certain all other settings are fine. Fastboot off has made a huge difference. Before i could type a whole sentence before it started to register on screen.
