Synced means it's completed as @plexer says.

When you start the next batch of account migrations, select the same endpoint and away you go. Any errors will be e-mailed to your primary office 365 account.

I started a new batch this morning and 10 worked but quite a few failed - I got a message about not being able to contact the server?

I have checked with a couple of people and the passwords havent changed so what could be wrong?

I did a new csv withthe ones that failed but the time it is taking would indicate that they are failing again :(

There is a limit on the number of IMAP connections that can be made, so the connection error might be that it has timed out.

No, dont think that is it as it says it allows 10 at a time. Will have a look tomorrow when I am back there

I've just noticed, it says a total of 0 mailboxes - it said 10 this morning when I did it as it is the 10 that failed from the other migration

How odd!

OK - tried my first migration today using the excellent guide kindly produced by @plexer

Trying to log that 'test' account on at https://login.microsoftonline.com/ I got the following message. Where have I gone wrong.

[h=1]We don't recognize this user ID or password[/h]Make sure you typed the user ID assigned to you by your organization. It usually looks like [email protected] or [email protected]. And check to make sure you typed the correct password.

Looking at your document, your bottom 2 migration tasks (Single account and slongtest) would appear to have completed successfully and it only detected 1 mailbox for that task.

Your emailaddresses1and2 detected 21 mailboxes and only managed to sync 11 of them.

Of the 10 that have failed, have you tried setting up a separate task for each one?

When I did mine, I had a few migrations that failed on the first attempt as there was lots of e-mails in their account (nearly 5gb) and it was dropping the connection. I restarted the task after hours and it then happily copied over.

@Boredguy

I didnt set up separate things for each one, I did them all in a group of 10, which has not only failed but told me that I have nothing in that CSV!

I could try doing them individually - take me a long time though - I've got lots!

Thanks @plexer Yes I did a migration of a single account via a csv and it came up with exceptions, those being it didn't pull the folders across by the look of it. So it should let me log that test account on methinks but it's not! I hope @witch doesn't mind me working in this thread with her but as we both seem to have similar issues it's logical to my 'vulcan' brain!

Have you already created the users in Office 365?

Logging in using the full email address?

Ah just logged onto my onmicrosoft A3 trial account which expires tomorrow and see I have a CSV report there explaining that a recipient wasn't found for the migration - what on earth does that mean then?

That normally means that the account you were trying to migrate either does not yet exist in Office 365 with an e-mail account (since it needs the account to exist to login and copy the files to), or a typo in the csv file.

Me being fik I expect @Boredguy thanks for your answer. I thought that was what the migration did; set the account up, are you telling me that from my A3 account I actually have to set up my username@schoolname account then I can do the migration?

Yep @speckytecky you need to have the accounts created first and licensed before you can migrate e-mail into it.... otherwise it just throws it's toys out of the pram.

If you setup the DirSync tool, then it will automatically create O365 accounts when you make them on the network, but you still have to set the licensing options for the users.

Hopefully @witch has had more success with the migration today as once your off easymail things can be a bit less manic.

Yes the instructions I created where just for creating a migration task the users need to be created beforehand otherwise it has nowhere to migrate them too.

To create the accounts in office 365 you can do them manually one by one, via a csv as a bulk upload, using dirsync and powershell.

Arrrrrrggggghhhhhhhhhhhhh

I had a CSV (CSV1) with 21 people in. I set the migration going

11 passed

10 failed

I set up those 10 as individual CSVs

EVERY SINGLE ONE FAILED...

BECAUSE....."The user XX is already included in the migration batch CSV1"

This is true as these users are from that batch which FAILED in the first place, which is why I took them out and did them individually @plexer @Boredguy anyone....this is getting beyond a joke...:(

So, if I delete the migration with the failed 10, and just leave the 10 running, should they sync eventually?

But I need the 11 that succeeded to keep syncing, dont I, because of new emails that might arrive? So how do I do that if that CSV includes 10 that fail and I cant do them separately?

If I delete that CSV and create a new one with just the 11 that worked in the first place, would that work?

I know you have a busy time ahead! I dont expect you to drop everything and help me...

I just want to know how to do things - there isnt any explanation anywhere

Apparently I deleted that initial one - didnt think I had but its gone now

It can wait till next week but I dont expect you to leap to my side - again -

Busy? Where? My network is running quite smoothly so I've plenty of time for all out other distractions in the other roles I also do so throwing a few helpful suggestions your way is fine and helps the day pass quicker.

You said you have a lot of accounts still to do, roughly how many.

For my migration I had 100 accounts to generate CSV files for and manually created 10 jobs for the first 10 staff, and every time I got an e-mail confirmation of completion I added the next one to the batch. This was mainly to ensure I did not overload my mail server with imap connections. I did have the luxury of doing the migration after I'd told the staff to only use 365 so I only had to worry about 1 sync per account.

The total time for all 100 accounts was about 9 hours and some of that was out of hours since you can select to run the task later. I connected to the admin page at home and started a few off in between web browsing.

Grab a coffee and some hobnobs and recharge before doing the next batch.

Ahh

I have created individual csvs for all staff, which is fewer than I had thought - 47 in all

I did a quick google and the advice was that I could run them all together. So I did.

That'll fail then, will it?

I have started to get messages that some of the migrations have finished and that I can download the success report - that's good, is it? :)

Yay

I have some failures though and when I click on the error report, I get an error! What do I do about those?

There is nothing wrong with having multiple accounts per csv, but it then does make troubleshooting failures a bit more difficult as you have found.

Separate files means that if JoeBloggs fails, then you can just restart that task, or if they had updated the password in the day or so since they told you, amend the csv and then reapply it to that task.

Success reports is positive as it means that it's all good.

For the failure reports, just restart the task for a second time (assuming it is not already failed twice) If it has failed multiple times it might need more investigation.
