Boredguy Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 The worry is that if easymail is still in existence then that is what they will go on using - blithely ignoring the requirement to use Office 365 and get their contacts over... Can you prevent user accounts on easymail from sending e-mails from the admin panel?
witch Posted November 19, 2013 Author Posted November 19, 2013 Ok - So there is another step when all's said and done that I follow to get the mx record? Anyway, just spoken to the boss and he has said to get the mail csv all up together - I am missing some email passwords and then we will be telling staff. They will be told to migrate their contacts - I do hope this is straightforward ( ) They will be given a date at which easymail will no longer exist and then I will do the finalisation thing. I have no ideas why this is getting to me so badly - I have done complicated things before
Boredguy Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 Basic check list Create Domain - Check Created E-Mail accounts - Check Migrated E-Mail to 365 - Check Get staff to export Contacts - Cluebat Have SWGfL process live MX record Change - Pending You can get the correct MX record by going back into the Office 365 Admin Portal -> Domains -> Your school domain -> View DNS settings. Click on View DNS Records to see what you need to provide to SWGfL. I created separate change requests for the 3 Exchange Online entries (MX, CName and TXT) Confirmation of MX Change - Pending E-mail all users via Easymail account saying new system live - Pending If you plan on using Lync for Instant Messaging/Video conferencing you can actually submit the requests now (if you have not already) for the 2 sets of SVR and CNAME entries.
witch Posted November 19, 2013 Author Posted November 19, 2013 ...and stuck again Looking at the csv file I need to migrate the emails all it has as headings is this: EmailAddress,UserName,Password I dont understand - @plexer's example had two email addresses. Is the above just the easymail details then?
plexer Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 EmailAddress - This is the Office 365 email account so witch@......... UserName - This is the login username for easymail which also happens to be witch@........ Password - Is the password for the easymail account. You're too hung up on them being the same thing, they just are as easymail uses the full email address as the login and the Office 365 id is the same as you're using the same format. Ben
witch Posted November 19, 2013 Author Posted November 19, 2013 Ahhh No, it was the username thing I lost. So I need the full email address in the first column. In the second column do I need the whole thing again or just the username part (witch)
Boredguy Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 If you login to Easymail with your full e-mail address, you need to put that in column 2 of the CSV
witch Posted November 19, 2013 Author Posted November 19, 2013 Now, there's the thing that is confusing me When we log on to easymail, (mail.anyschool.dorset.sch.uk ) we get a box in which to put the username - not the whole address and then a password box. So, does that mean that the first column has the whole email address but the second one only has the username?
Boredguy Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 I would try it with the full e-mail address, as the worst is will do is ignore the @blah
plexer Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 You will have to try both and see what works I think it needs the full email address to log in to easymail via IMAP. Ben
plexer Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 EmailAddress,UserName,Password slong@waylandacademy......,[email protected],password This as a migration csv is successfully syncing the account [email protected] in to the slong@waylandacademy..... email account. As you are keeping your email addresses the same then it would be: EmailAddress,UserName,Password [email protected],[email protected],your_password_here Ben
witch Posted November 19, 2013 Author Posted November 19, 2013 so the first two columns are identical? with just the easymail password in the third one? Sorry but I really need to get it right (and so does @speckytecky who is hiding behind me) 1

Fleetwood Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 (edited) @witch If I remember rightly from my last place when we did this, we used the full usernames ([email protected]) and it worked fine. If you look at SWGfL's guides on how to link up an Easymail account to MS Outlook, you'll notice that it too requires the full username format when setting up the account. I can only presume that your comment about only having to put the first part in when logging onto the Webmail is that the rest is probably embedded with the code, so it's done automatically for you - makes sense given that I doubt most of your colleagues would want to type out the entire domain name *shrugs* Just a guess, I don't know how they've set it up. EDIT: Sorry @plexer for repeating what you've already confirmed, hadn't noticed your posts before jumping the gun to Post Reply. My bad! Edited November 19, 2013 by Fleetwood 2
witch Posted November 19, 2013 Author Posted November 19, 2013 Well, I've sent out the email asking people to confirm their email passwords....soon be on the way to migration...gulp!
witch Posted November 20, 2013 Author Posted November 20, 2013 OK Is there an idiots guide to exporting contacts from Easymail and into Office365? I have already had one teacher moan that it will take her all day - all I said was to keep a note of her contacts just in case!
Boredguy Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 Easymail, top right click Options Click Contacts Scroll down to Export contacts and click Export Contacts button which exports it as a csv file. To import into 365 we told our staff to use Outlook and provided the attached guide.Importing_Contacts_and_Calendars.pdf 1

edutech4schools Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 Not using RM anymore but look in settings for extract contacts as csv. I got all staff to do the same as you when we moved to Google apps for Ed. Out of 5 schools I had to help 1 teacher.
edutech4schools Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 just found this in my notes Login to your old Easymail Click ‘Options’ Click ‘Contacts’ Click ‘Export Contacts’ which should download a file to your computer.
Boredguy Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 Ok, In Office 365 click on the "People" link at the top Then click on the cog in the top right and select Import Contacts 2
witch Posted November 23, 2013 Author Posted November 23, 2013 (edited) right,I have all the email passwords. I have just been asked to create two new accounts on the network though. Is it easy to add those to the Office 365 account? Will do the easymail thing next week (gulp) Edited November 23, 2013 by witch
plexer Posted November 23, 2013 Posted November 23, 2013 You log in to the Office 365 and just click the + symbol to add a single user. Ben 1
witch Posted November 29, 2013 Author Posted November 29, 2013 (edited) I have hopefully done the email migration following plexer's excellent instructions. An hour in and it hasnt completed one email yet - how long is this going to take!! Also, I have to explain how to migrate one user to the SLT as they are doing it themselves. Do they follow the same instructions or is there another way for individual email accounts? Edited November 29, 2013 by witch
witch Posted December 2, 2013 Author Posted December 2, 2013 (edited) Every single one failed. This is the message: We're having trouble connecting to the server for this account. Please make sure the server details are correct. Please, @plexer @Boredguy anyone - can someone tell me what is wrong. It accepted the csv file which was as follows: EmailAddress username password [email protected] [email protected] password Can anyone shed light on what on earth is going wrong? I have no idea Edited December 2, 2013 by plexer
