rickjames Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 So, two of the big US burger places in Five Guys and Shake Shack have opened up branches in London yesterday/today. I will probably go to one of them this evening. We're quite spoiled for burger places in London right now; Mother Flipper, Lucky Chip, Meat-Liqour/Market/Mission, Patty & Bun, Bleecker St to name a few. So yeah, let's talk burgers.
X-13 Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 So yeah, let's talk burgers. That's what I'm getting for lunch right now... om nom nom. Also, bacon double cheeseburger > everything
clockend25 Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 Find a Marstons pub, and grab yourself a Monster Rodeo Burger.
featured_spectre Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 I prefer to make my own, then I can guarantee what goes in it. I'll pick up 1lb of mince from the butcher, make either 4 1/4lb burgers, or 8 normal burgers. Freeze what isn't used. I then add a selection of onions, lettuce, tomato, pepper, gurkin, cucumber, garlic, mayo, relish, salsa, hot sauce, bbq sauce etc. I control what goes in, so I am happy. 3
Greenbeast Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 yeah I make my own at home, had 7 kg of venison carcass off cuts last month so I've got a decent stock of venison mince in the freezer for burgers at the moment

This really is the way to do it, I do the same. You can actually then make burgers very healthy and a good source of protein, everybody assumes burgers to be completely unhealthy but if made properly they can be really good.
Domino Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 everybody assumes burgers to be completely unhealthy but if made properly they can be really good. THUS NEGATING THE ENTIRE POINT!!?! it's not the same if they're good for you... 2

But knowing you are one of those skinny people who can eat what they like and not increase in size I see where you are coming from! In my situation its the reverse! I look at a burger and get bigger!
LeMarchand Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 Mmmmmm..... Venison Burgers! Sounds good. Pretty sure Sainsburys does these.
Dos_Box Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 Reading through this I am actually drooling now! Looking at the weather for the next 10 days I think my BBQ will be getting it's first airing pretty soon

Love ShakeShack. Did want to visit on Tuesday but then realised the UK branch doesn't open until today . Suppose I could wonder down there after work however...

Looking at the weather for the next 10 days I think my BBQ will be getting it's first airing pretty soon Has the weather in Preston not been glorious enough to have it out yet? Mines been out 6 times since the beginning of July...however I am looking at making a barrel smoker for family events
bushby Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 in Winchester there are only a few places I would go for a decent burger. but I prefer to make my own. got some wild boar at the moment from the farmer to make into burgers or sausages depending on the mood. but look on the bbc food section they have some nice recipies on there on the other hand if im out with mates and there is a burger king near I shall make my own burger from the hidden menu aka make your own burger I didn't tell you they do this
JJonas Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 Burgers are rubbish. Sausages are the best. that's fighting talk....
rickjames Posted July 5, 2013 Author Posted July 5, 2013 I should add when making my own cheeseburgers at home i place the slice of cheese on top of the patty as it's cooked; helps create a wonderfully gooey creation. Add some lettuce and tomato with optional streaky bacon and it aint bad.
Domino Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 We have handmade burger co up here in Scotland and the blue cheese blows your brains out. That sounds like it needs fixing....

Mines been out 6 times since the beginning of July...however I am looking at making a barrel smoker for family events It has been nice enough, however we spent the first 2 weeks pointing at the shining yellow ball in the sky wondering what it was! Seeing as winter didn't release it's grip until mid-May this year it's hardly surprising
LosOjos Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 I'll be making my own quarter pounders tomorrow to chuck on the BBQ - first of the year! I'll use beef mince from the local farm (very lean, great quality) a finely diced onion, a couple of red chillies, a couple of cloves of garlic, a pinch of cumin and plenty of pepper I have to say, I love the burgers at that burger joint in Spitalfields market, Gourmet Burger Co. I think it's called... (I don't go to London often, but eat there quite often when I do)
Pyroman Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 Ostrich burgers are awesome, try one if you get the chance. I was extremely taken aback when i suggested a BBQ and my Mrs said she doesn't like BBQ food. WHAT?!?!
