I've only actually ever liked one series of DW, and that was Tennant; a guy I find particularly good at that and many other roles. He reminds me a little of Patrick Stewart for some reason.

Benedict's getting into Hollywood action these days so unlikely he'll down grade to Doctor Who. Not sure who I'd like to see as Doctor, one paper suggested James Cordon, but don't think that will happen.

Benedict Cumberbatch would be great but the doubt the plots would be good enough to attract him, there is something missing since Russell T Davis left which Steve Moffat just does have when it comes to doctor who.

 

Steve Moffat has it with Sherlock, but some of the dr who storylines are so paper thin that they must have been using the original back of the fag packet ideas as lines.

 

David tenant was great as the doctor as the plots has 4/5 different stories running through it and across multiple series, but now it seems the cross series plot lines are an after thought and there is only one main story that run through a series.

This seems to come out every time there is a change of lead actor.

 

Apparently it began when Tom Baker was talking in a press conference after announcing that he was leaving.

 

He later said that he threw it into the mix to add some confusion to the process [put the press off the scent when they try to find the 'true' new Doctor]

It's not surprising really. He'll go off like David Tennant and probably fail to have a Hollywood career, come back to the UK and wish he'd never left.

 

 

It needs to be an old actor. Remember the doctor is getting very close to the end of his life, which was shown in the original run to be a steady degeneration with each subsequent regeneration - remember the Master with Tom Baker after Roger Delgado died basically a walking skeleton.

 

I have no idea how they are going to get past that hard limit of 13 regeneration, in the past only the Time Lords can do that and as they are no longer around...? I'd assume it'll have something to do with that ridiculous scene a couple of years back with River Song.

I seriously doubt they'd go for an old actor to be honest - the show is marketed at the young viewer, so having someone old won't be in the right segment for them.

 

My guess will be that the new Doctor won't be white, as its about time they broke the mould a bit.

I'd be happy with Idris Elba. He just came up in our 'next doctor conversation' in the office. You need someone with gravtias for the serious roles and I'm not sure someone like richard could pull that off. Of course, who wouldn't want the Cumberbatch (eh little-miss ?) he would be perfect, but I fear he is already far too well known. I'd love to see Mark Heap (AKA Brian from Spaced) give it a try, he's just about odd enough to pull it off

It will most likely be some obscure, unknown actor like Matt Smith was at the time. I'd be surprised if they don;t already have someone specific in mind to take over the role.

Idris probably too big (especially if

does the business). I like the idea of Richard A, but he's also got his directing career so may not be willing to commit to few years of Who.

Idris Elba is also a mainstay in Thor 2, was a reasonably big roll in Prometheus as well as other films, so I doubt he would downscale especially as he gets around £2mil (for his role in Thor)-£15mil per film (for his role in prometheus)

Corden was in Doctor Who as a side character in a couple of episodes, I can't see them bringing him back as The Doctor.
