E_G_R2 Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 Concure, I'm to the left hand side and luv the little furballs to bits but talking fur balls I HATE TRIBBLES
JJonas Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 Sonic Screw Driver is the biggest Dr Who copout. Should have remained destroyed after 'The Visitation' I dont know about that.. I see your Sonic Screw Driver and raise you psychic paper
CAM Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 I take your psychic paper and raise you an auto-translation field that covers vast distances and seems to work regardless of the Tardis being present or not.
E_G_R2 Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 Psychic paper - thats bad but not used every 60 seconds like the SSD
sted Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 I take your psychic paper and raise you an auto-translation field that covers vast distances and seems to work regardless of the Tardis being present or not. well yes but some sort of universal translator is unavoidable be it the tardis/babelfish though i sometimes thing the actors should just talk gibberish (for the mouth movements) and redub it in english as that would make more "sense"
X-13 Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 Sonic Screw Driver is the biggest Dr Who copout. That's the hypothesis sorted, now for the evidence supporting it... Also, "screwdriver" doesn't really do it justice. It's a multi-tool with a psychic interface. [i'm going to say it access' nerves in the hand and parses brain activity to understand the intended outcome.]
E_G_R2 Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 Universal Translators not a cop out, its a plot device so that we don't have to put up with sub titles and actors pretending to speak klingon or high elvish.

[i'm going to say it access' nerves in the hand and parses brain activity to understand the intended outcome.] JNT in classic who got rid because it became the device that sorted out all of the Doctors problems rather than the Doctor himself. Whats it limitless energy source? Mine went through A3 batteries like mad
sted Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 Universal Translators not a cop out, its a plot device so that we don't have to put up with sub titles and actors pretending to speak klingon or high elvish. so are the sonic screwdriver and psycic paper its a quick way of doing something that dosent rate screen time (or where screentime could be better used) as we dont need to see for instance breaking down 20 doors when the sonic screwdrivers can open them all in 10 seconds. Ditto ppsycic paper id imagine he could "blag" his way in most of the time but its not that interesting to watch so psycic paper means you can just cut that bit out
X-13 Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 (edited) Whats it limitless energy source? 1) TARDIS has living metal doodahs 2) Metal doodahs make what you need 3) ??? 4) Charge SSD from TARDIS console [with high capacity battery pack] Also, future tech battery life can't be judged by current tech standards. Edited May 20, 2013 by X-13 Living metal not liquid metal... too distracted for this.

X-13 Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 as its also not used for long periods of time and no mention i can see of its power requirements wh couldnt it kinetticly charge like some watches? It could also be symbiotic [Hey, the TARDIS is alive!] and use bio-electricity.
X-13 Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 Solar (wind) powered Could be, considering the TARDIS is powered by a dying star.
ICTDirect_Dave Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 Could be, considering the TARDIS is powered by a dying star. a Dying star frozen at the moment of collapse into a black hole... Limitless power!! Muahahaha!

rich_tech Posted May 20, 2013 Author Posted May 20, 2013 Thought the eye of harmony was the power source ?
sted Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 Ultimate cosmic power... itty bitty living space. oh good it wasnt just me that thought that
tmcd35 Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 Thought the eye of harmony was the power source ? Ya'know that's what I thought...
sparkeh Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 Thought the eye of harmony was the power source ? It is, but the Eye Of Harmony is a "an exploding star in the process of becoming a black hole suspended in a permanent state of decay". So everyone is right
LeMarchand Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 Jar Jar is no where near as annoying as the latest Checkov... ...and what's with that little green troll thing in engineering - I just don't get it? I read a theory postulating that s/he's R2D2 to Scotty's C3PO.
ZeroHour Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 1 - Hurt is actually the "original" Gallifreyan who's actions were so heinous that in his first regeneration (into Hartnell) the character had a crisis of conscience and became The Doctor (no need to bump regeneration numbers around). I hope its this! Dark Doctor Who could really rock! time to install spoiler tags on edugeek I think...
VeryPC_Tom_M Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 Ultimate cosmic power... itty bitty living space. Didn't you see the swimming pool?
ICTDirect_Dave Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 it's got a whole lot more than just a swimming pool. Take a look at this The Doctor's TARDIS - Tardis Data Core, the Doctor Who Wiki
