Smoothwall email filtering

How does this rate as a product? Be honest please. Smoothwall can't be good at everything and if this is an area they fall down on, I'd rather know!

Don't use it as our e-mail system has its own malware and ativirus built in, in fact we were using the Smoothwall relay until it got broke by one of the last updates so we haven't used it since.

 

On a good note when we did use it and it functioned correctly it was very good.

We use it and it works well and is quite effective. The occasional spam does get through but it is probably the same for all products and I guess we could up the rating but I don't want it to be too harsh.

 

Each morning, each user gets a Spam Quarantine digest of any mail that was stopped the previous day. This gives them the opportunity to preview the message and release if genuine. I must admit though, we check the spam queue a couple of times a day just incase something should have got through but is stuck. More often than not, when the public e-mail in completed application forms the odd one or two gets stuck for example.

I do believe so, mind you, so does Exchange 2010.

 

We use the mail filter, everything is then forwarded to a group account and a couple of us casts an eye over it everyday and forward on anything relevant.

Zap usually says "This email has been processed by SmoothZap - www.smoothwall.net" but you can put your own custom one on Email » Content » Footers
