L3OUGH Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 run the demo first, make sure you like it. Always do that with new games anyway! (well games that are new to me)
newpersn Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 Ive been playing Truck sims since 18Wheels of steel: AA
LosOjos Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 Ive been playing Truck sims since 18Wheels of steel: AA *Pictures SpongeBob in a trucker hat, chewing a strand of wheat with a huge mug of coffee with a lid sat on his computer desk*
featured_spectre Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 Ha. I think if the game ever does go online, we should form a trucking league (there is talk of it on the forums). Whoever can haul the most loads, or whoever can get the highest payment for a load etc.
mavhc Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 We could hire people to play it and reap the rewards, or just start a company and actually deliver stuff, 100% realism!
featured_spectre Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 Going a little bit too far there I will probably work on a mod as well over the coming weeks, see what I can knock up
hawc Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 Be careful if you are in a Renault! I always try and kill them
featured_spectre Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 If you can, do a nice truck route from Cambridge to Duisberg. Its a beautiful trip
newpersn Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 massively so. It is vastly superior to the onboard chips, you should be able to play this on high settings without an issue (I was playing on a 5770 without issue) I got a Msi Ati. 1950x any good?
newpersn Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 *Pictures SpongeBob in a trucker hat, chewing a strand of wheat with a huge mug of coffee with a lid sat on his computer desk* Yep. That's me. Flask of tea (don't like coffee) Be careful if you are in a Renault! I always try and kill them Thought I killed mine by now. Always red lining when round town.
featured_spectre Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 I got a Msi Ati. 1950x any good? It will be better than an onboard but not massively so.
mikeyd101 Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 My mate gifted it to me over the steam winter sale, I've not played it much. I like the idea of it but I give up during the grind of it all. I'll have to try and get up the motivation to give it another go, which is hard as assetto corsa and assassin creed 3 have me gripped. Maybe some mods would help.
Sunnyknight Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 What the f! I'm driving along happily, and a speeding car hits me from behind!? SOMEHOW IT'S MY FAULT?! WHAT!!!
featured_spectre Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 Yeah because you should have moved...the game is a bit crazy, also if you did above the limit in any shape then again, your fault.
Sunnyknight Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 Yeah because you should have moved...the game is a bit crazy, also if you did above the limit in any shape then again, your fault. I was on the motorway! In the slow lane!!!
featured_spectre Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 Doesnt matter, you have rear view mirrors, or wing mirrors, you should have seen them and moved. The game is a bit retarded that way but still it counts as your fault.
TronXP Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 Had a go last night for the first time in a while did 3 jobs, Manchester - Liverpool, Liverpool - Grimsby then Grimsby to Duisburg. Took around 45 minutes and I netted 170K between myself and other drivers in the company. The Ai cars can be stupid and some of the road rules are crazy, but you get used to it.
featured_spectre Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 ^^ This. Grimsby lives upto its name being Grim...lol
d0pefish Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 ^^ This. Grimsby lives upto its name being Grim...lol At least they haven't added Milton Keynes. Pulling 100 crates of dynamite through a billion and a half roundabouts.....I'd be tempted to just offload the cargo and light it!
TronXP Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 How many miles have you lot clocked up? I am on around 38,000 miles so far.
LosOjos Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 How realistic are the locations? Are they modelled on the actual locations? Also, how realistic are the motorways? I mean obviously they can't be properly mapped out as that would mean for @nephilim's truck would have to be going 1,600mph to make London to Glasgow in 15 minutes are there at least landmark points en route so that you'd recognise roughly where in the country you're supposed to be?
featured_spectre Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 They are condensed. A "2 hour" journey should take no more than 4mins unless there are lots of winding roads. London to Edinburgh was an 8 hour journey, but all on the motorways and with a truck which has great fuel economy (8% extra) and a higher speed than your default engine, doesn't take long. 15 mins was an estimate, was probably more like 20-25mins
featured_spectre Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 Something to note - Many of the ADR jobs also have Fragile as a "hidden" bonus (you only see it after delivery). If you go for ADR points make sure to get a point early in Fragile as well. Fragile ADR jobs that are also long distance and important/urgent are absolute gold both in payment and experience. You can make £200k+ for 1 delivery across Europe.
