At the time the measurement was done the man's shadow was 2/3 of his height...or put another way his height is 3/2 times his shadow length... therefore the building height is 3/2 times it's shadow length...

Given how far away the sun is I don't think the angle of the sun would be appreciably different for man or building... ...but I still can find a tree

Garacesh Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 If the sun is 'low' in the sky but still 'high' enough to be 'above' the person (since there are all relative terms in the sun doesn't move), then the man's shadow would be shorter, but the height of a building would be longer (as the sun would be 'lower' than the top of the building I think. I'm not putting too much thought into it The tree is obviously inside the atrium of the building.
