Hi does anybody know of and software similar to netsupport tech console. We need something that works with Windows 7&8 that allows us to remotely login to about 25 PCs in one go and push EXE or MSI file. Preferably something open source….. Thanks

Hi, I have deployed V11 to all of my site, but my ICT Co-Ordinator is struggling with it as he finds the machines internet explorer 9 crashes (windows 7, latest drivers, Acer Veritons) when he has the toolbar showing on the clients. Has anyone else come across this issue, or might be able to help diagnose this with me? Thanks John Dooley Maryhill

For those of you who are wanting to deploy NetSupport DNA client and would also like to use the web filtering part of the software on windows 7 machines....I'm sure your aware there is a conflict between Sophos and the DNA Client install. (I won't go into whose fault this is (Sophos..I believe) but DNA has to be installed first in order for the two of them to play nicely) In order to combat this, the DNA client setup will detect the install of the Sophos LSP and not install the DNA LSP to enable web filtering, BOOOH! But neccesary. If you have turned off the web filtering element of Sophos anyways then this script will tidy up the LSP so you can install to existing clients on the network, we have other mechanisms in place for this feature. Befware after the DNA client is installed sophos will not re-enabled their LSP as Sophos will detect the presence of the DNA client. Obvisouly this is not needed on Windows 10, so will be a moot point soon. I have written this script to disable the Sophos LSP, and DNA will install correctly, we push out via SCCM so we can handle the reboot process. @echo off echo Installing NetSupport DNA Agent - Please Wait. REM Adds the Key to remove LSP when UPdate service started reg add "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Sophos\Web Intelligence" /v SwiUpdateAction /t REG_DWORD /d 3 /f REM Start Sophos Web Intelligence Update Service net start "swi_update_64" REM Taps Foot... timeout /T 10 REM test for absence of Sophos LSP and install DNA Client netsh winsock show catalog | find /i "Sophos" > NUL & IF ERRORLEVEL 1 (msiexec.exe /I "%~dp0\NetSupport DNA Agent.msi" /QN REBOOT=ReallySuppress /L*v %~dp0\Install.log) ELSE ( ECHO Sophos LSP was found) REM Return exit code to SCCM exit /B %EXIT_CODE% Hope this helps someone.

I'm having a problem with Netsupport School V9, its well over a year since I touched this software so I've unfortunatly forgotten much of what I used to know. I have a room with 20 PCs and out of those the tutor will not connect to 4 of them. I've checked that the firewall service is disabled and VNC allows you to connect to these machines, I then disabled VNC just in case but still it wont connect. Anyone have an ideas on what could be causing this? The connection method I'm using is the default TCP/IP port method.

We've been giving NetSupport DNA and schools a trial after we noticed the advert on here for Edugeek Members. We wanted to deploy the DNA agent across the network to all machines on the domain but found this was going to be a little challenging, not just because it was a .exe but also it required us to enter the server name during the installation for it to connect to the administrator console. I figured it would be much nicer if I could just assign an MSI to a GPO and push this out to all clients in school, plus if we reinstall windows on any machines they will pick up the DNA agent again after they have joined the domain so that we don't forget to install it. We find the administrator console a little fustrating as we can't organise all the machines it finds into name order and it doesn't mirror the active directory tree by default to make it easier to deploy from here (anyone else find this?) anyway here are some instructions on deploying through group policy. If you run the NetSupport DNA setup.exe you will notice that it extracts a 'netsupportdna.msi' to C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Temp\randomfolder. The MSI was located in a folder with a really long random folder name which could potentially change on your machine so just filter the folders by date and look for the latest folder created. Within there will be the MSI used for deployment, nice! but now to figure out how to enter the server name so it can call home. So my next step was to see within program files or within the registry for where the entry may be for specifying the server address for all machines but no matter where I looked I couldn't find an entry for server name. I managed to find some free software called orca MSI editor. The software examines the MSI file and shows you the different parts within the MSI including a registry key entry for 'ServerAddress' which apparently is located in HKLM\software\wow6432node\netsupport LTD\netsupport DNA\client Now if you do a manual install of the agent this registry key does not exist BUT if you insert the registry key and restart the agent it connects to the server just fine and downloads all the necessary information. I've tested it and found no problems. So, create a new GPO 'Net support DNA agent' , edit the policy and open computer configuration > policies > software settings > software installation. In here right click, choose new and browse to your MSI file which you should have copied to a your normal folder for software deployments from the local temp folder. We now need to also assign the registry key to the same group policy to add this entry into each machines registry. First create the Registry key on a test machine so that you can then import this into group policy in the next step. So go to regedit on your test machine and locate the folder 'HKLM\software\wow6432node\netsupport LTD\netsupport DNA\client' right click and create a new string value and call it ServerAddress . Once you have done this, double click the key and enter the path for your server. I did it in the format servername.network.local now on the server in the same GPO that you have just made Go to computer configuration > preferences > windows settings > Registry. Right click here and go to New and 'Registry Wizard'. Select 'Another computer' and enter the computer name for your test machine that you just made the registry key on. This will then load up the registry of that machine and you can browse to HKLM\software\wow6432node\netsupport LTD\netsupport DNA\client and select the registry entry. Select finish once you have chosen the 'ServerAddress' key. If you double click into the registry key that has now imported and through all the folders until you find the lone registry key 'Server address' you can double click into the registry key and change the action from Update to Replace. That's it, you should now be able to assign the GPO to an organisational Unit and deploy the client. Obviously I would test it out first on a machine to make sure you are happy. If you need any more information on doing this please feel free to comment or DM me. Hope this helps

Hey guys, I'm currently looking for a software similar to that of net support, but for a business scenario. I remember seeing and having to put up with net support in high school. Then we were free, and could mess around. We wrote ipconfig renew and release scripts to evade it. And we even took a look at both softwares for client and server. Good times. But I know how good it is. I used to be close with my computer teacher and she showed us how it works etc. And it works great. The entire school (4,500 students about) uses it. Of course not every student was on a computer but the computer classes and labs had them. And it worked great. Used little from the crappy school computers but allowed full control to the teacher. So I'm currently looking for one that has the abilities of netsupporr but for buisness. I don't want to use netsuppornetsupport due to its price and maintenance fees. I'll be glad to consider anything so please feel free answer with any software that could fit the bill. Side notes: They use about 15 desktops. The owner has a tablet and home computer but also the desktop at work. If the application could allow control it from the android tablet it would be a really big plus. Note the tablet is only used when not in the companys network (aka travel) If anyone knows of one that is in Spanish (as the business's owner lives in mexico, currently visiting) that would be great. If not English is alright they know English just their primary language is Spanish.

Hi everyone, So we're currently using Impero EdPro for our remote management software in a MAT. But, we're looking for an alternative that can effectively allow us to do very similar activities (remote "take" control, send cmds in console, add blacklist apps/keywords/websites). What's everyone using these days? EDIT: Windows env with some Chrome OS devices also being used to see what they're doing.

Hey everyone, first post here My school is looking at going for NetSupport or Impero. Cost is not an issue. Which is the best option?

AB Tutor v9 is installed in two computer science classrooms. We have created our own DNS that the client connects to. But for some odd reason on a certain PC, the client version will randomly go missing. It is not possible for students to accessed the settings to uninstall manually, nor can they use the command prompt. I have had a look through the event logs without any success. This often happens to the console version also, where it will search for the wrong DNS or again, go missing entirely. Any help to why this is happening will be much appreciated

Hi,. We have RM tutor4 licences for the school, and as such all CC4 machines are running with the Netsupport student module enabled. In most IT rooms we have a 'teacher' machine which has the tutor control software on it. As our teachers move around PC's, with their profiles, Tutpr gets confused where they are and doesn't offer the correct machines for that room when a teacher logs on. my NM mentioned that it was possible on CC3 to 'fix' tutor so that a machine would bring up the same machines regardless of who was logged on, but alas he doesn't remember how this was done. can anyone point me in the right direction...? Thanks in Advance! Steve
