Hi all, Having a problem getting MDT2010 to find the wireless driver for the Lenovo G550 Laptop. Iv downloaded every driver from the Lenovo site, extracted and included them in the out of box drivers. Iv also got a small add on program that searches the drivers after installation to try and find some it may have missed and it still does not work. I wonder if anyone has got any ideas? or has experienced the same problem. Thanks.

I know a lot of people use VMware, Virtual PC etc to create a base image that they sysprep and then deploy to their network PCs. My query is how does one go about removing, say, VMware drivers from their image after sysprepping and instead it picks up the relevant ones from under 'out-of-box' drivers in MDT when deployed? My image works fine but at the same time you'll find in C:\Drivers there'll be the workstation's drivers as well as VMware drivers.

I've successfully managed to sysprep and deploy my image to whichever workstation I want it installing on. However, when the machine is rebuilt and boots up it does not apply any of the software from GPO and simply ignores it and goes straight ahead to 'Running Startup Scripts' before I get the login box. I have to reboot the machine several times before it starts installing the software. Anyone know what I should do to force the machine to install the software from GPO? This is working fine when using RIS.

Im new to using MDT and im not sure if its able to do what I want it to do. I have created a Windows 10 image and got it ready for capture. Normally, I would plug in a network cable and capture the image using WDS. The problem is, the laptop is a Lenovo Flex 10 which doesn't have a Ethernet port, this means no network boot. What I want to do is use MDT to create a USB stick which runs the sysprep and capture sequence offline so then I can capture the .wim to my external HDD. I then want to use MDT to create another USB stick which I can use to build the rest of the laptops with the image I captured. Please can someone help me with this? I've trawled the web for a guide on how to do this but haven't been able to find anything.

Hi, I’ve had a look around several forums and found some people with this similar problem but no solutions yet. I have created a thick “golden” image that I want to deploy to several computer labs. It’s a Win7Ent x64 with 2 partitions. I’ve tried to capture it with imagex on boot PE and tried using the tsmbautorun.exe from the capture.iso from SCCM. Both seem to create the wim file fine, however when I try to import this into the Deployment Workbench I get no errors and it does appear in the folder structure of the deployment share, but it doesn’t show in the available operating systems on the workbench. Therefore I can’t create a task sequence and deploy it. It has happened a couple of times now with different images; however, I have successfully imported other wim images I’ve built with no problems. Anyone else have this problem and found a solution? Rob

We have set up MDT and i have got it working a treat, we are looking to re-image all our laptops (about 1500) this summer. The image deploys brilliantly, i have created the wireless profile xml, MDT imports its fine using the netsh wlan command, however for some strange reason removes the wpa key so the laptops dont join the wireless. If i do it manually using the same xml file after mdt has completed its fine and joins the network. Any ideas Edugeekers ??

When I PXE boot a machine to begin using MDT 2010, it takes an awful long time to show the welcoming screen. Currently it'll show the banner of 'solution accelerators' at the bottom but nothing else will appear until 5 or so minutes has lapsed. Any ideas how I can speed this up? I am using Windows 2003 Enterprise Ed to deploy Win 7 Pro.

Hi all Here's a noodle twist for you. Our setup is a SCCM 2007 R2 SP2 setup [an elaborate multi server setup too ] and everything seems to work a treat. For those that dont realise, MDT is such a welcome addition to SCCM. Makes alot of stuff so much the sweeter, but I digress slightly. With our MDT infused SCCM TS, everything works a treat except for two niggles I have. 1: When deploying [from PXE] a captured SCCM Win7 OS build on a machine, everything works great - however, it doesnt place the computer object into the target OU that it has been told to in the Task Sequence. This also seems to apply in other uses of the TS i.e. running a Refresh using it etc, however, everything else seems to work fine i.e. Driver Injection, Software Update installs, Additional Software installs, Model Specific checks, etc. Seems to just be the comp obj that wont get moved to where I tell it. EDIT: Just tried it from fresh using PXE, with no computer object in AD, and SCCM with MDT put the computer object in to the correct OU I'm happy to say. However, I wager that if i move the AD object somewhere and then try again [leaving the computer object in AD] but just advertising it again, it wont move anywhere. The latter two posts in the following thread seem to ring two to what I have: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/configmgrosd/thread/ba2b4689-75f1-48f3-8350-e0ca2fef3711 however, I've tried the following script previously and I didnt get any joy with it: http://blog.coretech.dk/scripting/vbscript-move-computer-object-to-another-ou-via-command-line-parameter/ Could be I'm just missing something.... 2: The other niggle is that when rebuilding a machine in any sense, it creates a new SCCM computer object rather than reuse the existing one, causing there to be two objects. The one used at the time of (re)deployment is set to Obsolete and the AD computer ojbect association is set to the new one, tho the new one of course then isnt linked to Collections where it is needed, which isnt a problem at the moment, but will mess things up later on down the line. Just wondering if there is some option / command i can use to stop that happening, and additionally a command i can use (if it can continue to use the existing SCCM obj, rather than create a new one) that will allow me to remove / add the object to a collection as part of the deployment TS? Hope that makes sense, These two things are a bit annoying and i'm running out of time to get them working so any thoughts / ideas / help would be really appreciated here with this. [have given up with posting on the MS forums as u either get a poster reword your question and posing that as the answer etc hehe ] Cheers. Nathan

Has anyone mastered a way of moving a workstation from the Computers OU to an OU of their choice during deployment? At the moment all my workstations get rebuilt and put into the Computers OU. If I try to put it elsewhere by entering the details on the Domain Join page then the workstation fails to rebuild. I've tried things such as: In the customsettings.ini MachineObjectOU=OU=Workstations,DC=School,DC=internal MachineObjectOU=OU=Workstations, DC=School, DC=internal [with spaces] In the domain join page when entering your details Workstations,DC=School,DC=internal school.internal/Workstations etc None of which worked. Just wondering if anybody has succeeded in this and if you could let me in on your secret. Thanks in advance.

Hi Everyone, Firstly, Sorry If this has been asked a thousand times and answered a thousand times (Although I can't find the answer it it has, and no, its not 42! ) Here my seneriao, Currently we roll out XP using RIS, but we have a flat XP CD with a choice of Sif files at build time for different styles of finish (Some GPO lock down, some 3rd party), not a sysprepped/riprepped image. By using this method we log on once, and it auto assigns the PC name and places it in the correct OU (Username we logon with at 1st build determines PC name and OU). We then push out software using MSIs over GPO's. My Question is, how do I get this kind of flat "image" automation with Windows 7 and WDS (whether it be on 2k3/2k8) without taking an image, and without having to type in the PC name manually each time? I have looked at countless tech articles and blogs, but they all seem to be about creating Images, which is not where I want to head, as I have just abandoned this practise with ghost! Many Thanks for you answers in advance! Jon
