Okay I've had a proper look at the code... I guess this is just a average peice of code that would of been unworthy of being on the internets, however it is rather unique in one way... Where you have in the index, if you change this to It will select a different set of navigation options and make the about us options active. So by just changing the body class you change the "Active" navigation options, to me this seems over complex but it may do what you require. If you want to add aditional top level options you have to modify the CSS and add the relevent bits, so where it says body.section-1 #menu li#nav-1 a, body.section-2 #menu li#nav-2 a, body.section-3 #menu li#nav-3 a, body.section-4 #menu li#nav-4 a { background : #fff; border-bottom : 1px solid #fff; color : #000; } You just need to add another body class to make it body.section-1 #menu li#nav-1 a, body.section-2 #menu li#nav-2 a, body.section-3 #menu li#nav-3 a, body.section-4 #menu li#nav-4 a, body.section-5 #menu li#nav-4 a { background : #fff; border-bottom : 1px solid #fff; color : #000; } You have to do this on every CSS decleration where it follows the same sort of rules I.E body.section-1 #menu ul#subnav-1, body.section-2 #menu ul#subnav-2, body.section-3 #menu ul#subnav-3, body.section-4 #menu ul#subnav-4 { display : inline; left : 10px; position : absolute; top : 95px; } This is the bit that seems overcomplex (traditionally you shouldn't have to edit the CSS when adding a menu item).

and teachers don't I assume? Schools survived without IT and could at a push again (although it wouldn't be a very good school) No there not I think they are paid just about right.... some senior IT positions are paid excessivily well, just like in all prefessions the higher up the ladder the more pay you get.

I'll tell you how to change it when I get home tonight... I won't do it for you

Your href links are wrong... i.e change ../csstabs/aboutus/aboutus.htm to aboutus/aboutus.htm To be honest the script is fairly weak, it should really be using classes to setup the navbar and ID's to decided whats active or not.

[hosting] Register .sch.uk domain and self-hosting
mossj replied to thenetworkmanager's topic in Web Development
Out of interest why are you self hosting? With web hosts being as cheap as chips theres not really a huge advantage to it... (VLE's are a different matter) -
I can't be the only one thinking this is genius *googles for pubs in leicester with wifi and fruit machines...*

1. So no profiles then? What about licensed programs? It's not just about Data Protection.. (not sure if anything of value could come from profiles but I prefer to be safe than sorry) 2. Oh the old honesty approach... 3. Then don't give them away...

Just how exactly did you aquire this laptop? Going on the principle that 1) The machine should of been wiped when it left the school 2) Your only posts have been about this laptop 3) You 'found' a copy of XP pro It screams dodgy to me (sorry if I'm wrong... but it does)

Logging into a school website...what to provide?
mossj replied to rapid_f1's topic in Web Development
I think this is a 'risk' with access groupds in Joomla, at what point does a website stop and a VLE begin? Personally I gave access more news articles/pages, and content submission. VLE should be used for file uploading where the public doesn't need to see it. -

TBH thats exactly the sort of quote I want from a world super power leader... No nonsense and down to business.

Cheap sunglasses can ruin your eyes, as the darker tint opens your eye, but offers no protection from UV. Or so I'm told.... personally I can't stand sun glasses expensive or not.

I found that google adsense was largely pointless when working on my site... only earning a couple of pence a day. I did find that image ads earn less, than the text based ones. I guess this is because the text based ones include a description of exactly what is behind the link and people seem to prefer this. Affiliate Marketing appears to be the way to go though.... I earn a couple of quid a day with ebay on my site.

Maybe recommend he lift the privacy restriction on his whois result... As a legit business there is no reason for it to be there...

As above... I also think the header/logo pushes the actual content to far down the page.

Surely if we travel faster than the speed of light, the we travel back in time... and judging by the lack of people in silver jump suits it will never happen..

Out of interest which networks did you switch to/from? and was it easy coxing the phones4u people to buy you out?
-
liking the anologies... How about this one It's like buying a microphone with two settings, it's default one which is to only talk to people you know and trust, and one which talks to everyone in your street. You turn it to the second option on the basis it's easier and complain when people hear you.... I don't think I've ever seen a wireless point that wasn't defaulting to secured (even if it's just WEP)
-
Good maybe the people using unsecured networks will think twice now..

Well then it's irrelavent why not just give more in the CTC to people that actually need the cash? RussDevs comment proves this, why is he and his partner less eligble for benifits than a couple in identical circumstances but with a bit of paper?
-
So CTC's are the same as Marriced Tax Allowances then?
