If you're redirecting desktops to network location on a Server 2008 or upwards machine, you could look at FSRM.

Is offline files/sync center enabled on the laptop? 3 folders would seem to suggest that some are being cached locally. Look for the folder status which should show online, or possibly offline or offline (slow connection) or something like that.

Can you screenshot the summary page with anything that will expand expanded? Or right click on the "user on machine" item under Group Policy results, and do save report and stick it on here so we can check it?

Right, so if the file copy is not appearing, under the summary tab, expand computer config summary and gpos, and see if your policy is under either applied or denied GPOs and then we'll look at where to look next. Cheers Will

First step, in Group Policy Management (either on server or through RSAT), scroll to bottom and right click on group policy results and run the wizard targetting the VM you've got running and whatever user - check to see if your GPP shows in the settings tab of the report which will appear. This should give details of a winning GPO, and a result of the application, which may include an error code, which could help decipher where things are going amiss. Cheers Will

Most SAN types from these places will either have some internal drive bays or SATA DOM for OS installation. Do you have a link to what you're looking at? OS wise you could stick any of the above on, or OpenIndiana with napp-it, or you could look at Nexenta based solutions (although I've struggled to get Nexenta to let me buy their software without getting it put on a device by one of their resellers...).

Would cutting a hole in the roof count as a bad idea another random suggestion, could you hinge at the top of the pole and have wire attached to winch the projector so it stows at roof level (make it more difficult to hit), then winch back down when needed for use? May be able to keep it from being hit as much, and as the only movement would be in a single direction to fixed points, should be fairly consistent?

This would be a case of setting up system monitoring of SMART data, giving an alert when the "usable life" attribute drops below a certain level (I'd go for 25% just to be safe, maybe higher).

Consider age of article and hence age of device/firmware - things have moved on. Also look at effect of over provisioning on SSDs (as I've mentioned before). Has a positive effect on write performance endurance.

No... lack of TRIM support in RAID, devices still have GC routines...

This is the point I've been trying to make - and stick in other bits to make your system reliable - yes it's potentially a little more support work on your side, but if you have 4 devices sharing the load, and 1 goes down, it's less high priority than if you have 2 and 1 goes down. You can fix it next holiday, you only up the priority if 2 devices go down...

Congrats on the exam pass @glennda Does Open-E do SSD caching on both read and write? Can you use RAM as cache as well (ie if you were to shove 300GB RAM in the box could it use this as read cache)?
