To be honest, which would you prefer, that COBRA didn't convene based on the information that has been provided through the media (there's probably a whole lot more information that we don't know about) and there be possible further attacks from groups (if linked) or that COBRA did convene, did some work (I don't think they get paid overtime for that) and ensure that the police/security services are doing there jobs? At present we don't know whether there are individual nutters, sleeper cells, non-religious home grown terrorists using religion as a shield for their real identity and agenda or someone testing the response to a suspected attack on a member of the armed forces, or whatever else it may have been.

As long as their belief doesn't impact on the job they do, then yes - they may believe that, for arguments sake, women shouldn't be allowed out unaccompanied in the street (random obscure example I know, but illustration), but if they were a policeman, they should also respect the law as it is and not arrest an unaccompanied woman in the street - they may campaign for a change in law in their own time, but it should not affect the way they abide by the laws they are set.

Only thing I would add to that sentence is "accept that however wrong you think/believe they may be". Considering the OP, I think that this has gone significantly OT and also, moved away from that simple sentence - with suggestions that people who are religious are illogical, without thought, unintelligent fantacists. To be honest, I find that downright insulting - to call anyone on a forum which is for those who work in IT illogical is an insult to our trade, and don't get me started on unintelligent. And fantacists - I would have thought the majority of us have also spent time on MMORPGs, pretending to others we're something we're not, creating characters in the likeness we would wish.

It's your free will to slap me, it may be that out of your free will decision there comes an opportunity for me to show you how and why I believe in God, but I don't know what His plan is... just of note, I wouldn't suggest slapping Christians as part of an experiment to see whether this relates to His plan... it may after all be that His plan is for you to turn to Him after being jailed for assaults on religious groups

Where did the definition of Marriage come from in the first place? Sunday trading laws, although partly about the Christian's traditional church attendance day is also to do with the idea of a traditional working week, and keeping time available for people to relax and not have to work - would you like schools to be in on Saturday and Sunday as well, just rotating staff? Fish Friday - yep, that's Catholic, but most places serve other stuff as well... and I'l sure if I checked with my father-in-law (Professor of Metabolic Physiology) he'd suggest that having fish as part of your diet is a good thing.

Not my point - as my comment has been taken out of context - context was 2 varying opinions, MMR vaccine may have been a bit too extreme an example. In the end, I would love for you all to become Christian, but I'm not going to force you, that's not what I believe I have been called to do. After all my other posts, I guess I should reply to OP... in the instant, thanking for a positive. I would hope as a fellow Christian that before they found the dog, and after they have been praying that God would reveal His plan - to support those affected, however it may be.

Fixed goal for the world - in my belief the fixed goal is that we shall all go to God's Kingdom, however, there is still free will in this - I believe that we can choose to believe in Jesus as the son of God and follow Him, and by believing we gain entry to God's Kingdom.

My belief would be that this is where God's will shows itself - using your skills to provide support to others, and in so doing receiving support from them. Thank you for setting up those groups - in the event that I ever need the support I know that is it there.

I think from my understanding, the tree of knowledge gave all knowledge, not that God wishes us to have no knowledge. Consider schooling (I really have got to stop using schools as an example)... if on the first day of school, a student was given knowledge of everything, so that they no longer needed to be there, but still had to be there (it's school after all, you do your time...) - what have they really learned, and what will they do (act out, misbehave, be bored, come out with no life skills), if the student goes through school learning, then they are occupied, happy etc - this is seen in some footballers of today - pit a £100k a week footballer against someone who gets paid £20k, the likelihood is that the person who has to put most effort into living will be the most rounded. (please note, this is talking about ideal students, not every student). From that, I believe that God wants us to work for our knowledge, to develop ourselves, not to be handed everything - yes, I know this is just good morals, but I'm not saying that it's specific to Christians. And that, by free will, we can choose whether to do the work, or not.

I can't tell you what my response would be - I simply would'nt have said that at that time. As for the "it was God's will" comment - my concept is that God acts much like a school governor - He knows what's going on, and has a strategic overview (ie He has a plan for the overall direction of life, the universe and everything, but leaves the day to day running to the Head (Science), Bursar (Earth - natural resources) and staff (our bodies)). Like many of our students, we don't know why our bodies, the earth or science do various things, and very sadly, sometimes they do things which are horrific as in your case. I would not say that this is God's will. I also think that it's not true that "God will never give you more than you can handle" - I think that challenges will befall all of us, some challenges much worse than others. I think that God knows what challenges lie ahead of us and tries to provide a route for support through those difficulties. I see from your sig a couple of groups which have probably provided you with some support through the past year - my viewpoint would be that God's will was to make this support available and that in the future, your family will be able to support others through the lowest points of their lives. I hope that I won't be added to the list of punchees, and will continue to hold your family in my prayers.

Perfectly serious in response to X-13 - he suggested that children go to limbo or hell, I was quoting from the Message version of the bible... probably should have done more than a 3 word explanation... The idea is that children are seen as innocent, they don't understand their decisions or repercusions - they lack the knowledge to willingly do wrong. The idea behind the bible verse being that these innocent children will be in God's Kingdom, and it's also a model for Christians to work towards - not lacking the knowledge to willingly do wrong, but to willingly decide, with the knowledge we have, not to do wrong.

Errr... no... innocence of children: One day children were brought to Jesus in the hope that he would lay hands on them and pray over them. The disciples shooed them off. But Jesus intervened: “Let the children alone, don’t prevent them from coming to me. God’s kingdom is made up of people like these.” After laying hands on them, he left.

That's useful information to know - did they say which end the IQN was too long on (ie was it the Netgear not coping with the length of windows IQN or windows not coping with netgear IQN)? and a suprising cause of the issue.
