Using InTune/Endpoint Manager to manage these devices would help. For the autonomous new laptop you can configure Autopilot...user opens the box and logs in and all your config profiles/apps etc will download and install. We've set up all devices in InTune/Endpoint Manager to be used by anybody, so when a machine is passed to a new user we only have to update our inventory. You can configure the laptops to auto encrypt so data on the device is kept safe, and you can set up auto OneDrive syncing for files (including those on the desktop). We only use local profiles on devices with a script to delete any profiles that haven't been used in 60 days to keep the devices clean.

Very infuriating when you're seeing the issue but Microsoft say 'Sorry, no issue here!'. Can I ask how you are doing your policy backups?

All appears to be working fine now, and below is an update to this from Microsoft: "We have checked internally and found one similar case with the same issue. It looks like there was some ongoing issue in the backend related to this."

Hi there, The entire week I've been having an issue accessing any of the configuration profile blades in Endpoint Manager. I've submitted a support request to Microsoft and whilst they are still looking into it, they are fairly adamant there are no known issues. I can access every other page in Endpoint Manager fine. There was a known 365 issue resolved recently accessing the security blade, but I can access this fine. Below is a screenshot of the error message I'm seeing. Is/has anyone else had this error? Thanks!

Ahh just tried and you're right you can't move data in the same tenancy...well that's annoying

We use Mover a lot for migrating data between M365 tenancies so it should fit the bill for you.

Hi, This may be relevant to MATs- when starting out/supporting a new school, do any of you send out a questionnaire for staff to complete so they can let you know of their opinions on how they see the current IT provision, and what pitfalls if any they are experiencing. Also looking for this! We use SSO from Azure to Google services and having to type the whole thing in is annoying.

We did this but in Endpoint Manager, however I think its largely similar to do via GPO. The sites can take up to 8 hours to start syncing on the computers.

Another, possibly more convoluted option which I've been trying out... Recently purchased something similar to these which can be mounted in strategic places inside/outside/around your home/car/wherever. I've then set up a routine in the Shortcuts app (I'm iOS) to do various things such as turn on/off lights and linked it to the tag. For your scenario you could mount this outside of your house, or somewhere in your car, set up to run a routine on your phone to turn the doorstep light on. Scan the tag and let your phone do the work.

Yep, you'll be able to control all lights through the Google Home app when you're away from your property.

Use the Tradfri stuff at home integrated with Google Home and works really well for the price. If you wanted to turn on the doorstep light so you can see the lock, you could buy one of the IKEA motion sensors to automate that. We use one for when we walk into the garage the light comes on and if it doesn't detect motion in 15 minutes or so it will turn it off.

Hi all, We've had a request to set up the schools PTA members with O365 accounts and access to their own Teams space. Just wondering if anyone had any opinions/thoughts on this, for and against, before I go back to SLT with my suggestions. Something tells me it would be prudent to keep these two entities separate, but interested to hear what you all think. Thanks!

I can answer one of those! We set profiles to delete if they haven't been used for 60 days. ALSO if you are going down the route of using OneDrive/SharePoint with files on demand, we also set up Storage Sense to auto delete things in the recycle bin, and also to convert downloaded files back to online files if they haven't been used for x amount of days. Keeps our machines nice and clean.

This is how we do it...works fantastically. We also have a Google Workspace tenancy so that staff can log into Chrome to back up their favourites and we can push things out to them. We pushed a policy in Endpoint Manager to force Chrome sign in so they have to sign in using the account we have provided.

Create new configuration profile > Device Restrictions > Network Proxy
