  1. I wouldn't use symantec, too pricey & doesn work well. So I think you need to look into the amount of data you expect & look into capacity. There is a differencr between archiving & journaling so make sure you know what you need. You can start with PA & thrn maybe move into the cloud.
  2. Was the testing exactly the same? 2 NEW users? Can you do a remote session?
  3. But are you using Outlook as the client?
  4. let me know how it goes.
  5. My env is exch 2010 sp1 & I tested with sp2, I wont go into the RU level just yet. The OS is W2K8. Ent for bot OS & Exch. I think your issue isn't related to any SP level, just a misconfig/the way u are using it.
  6. 1. The you don't need this. - Understanding the Availability Service: Exchange 2007 Help 2. Do you use PF for anything else like content/calendars etc..
  7. Done & yes, it works as expected. I think you should do the same test in your env, create 2 accounts and set permissions as requied, don;t set the Send-As as you dont want that. Just Send-on-Behalf. No membership in any groups other than domain users for both accounts.
  8. 1. Do you have OLK 2003 clients? 2. Only Exch 2007 in your Org? 3. Any Exch 2003?
  9. alias is that. That seems possible from I can see but it depends on how thr mbx is setup along with the other stuff we discussed. But yes it should work. I'll test.
  10. can you run get-mailbox "helpdesk alias"| fl
  11. For your email address policy, you defo have all 3 smtp domains defined? And you are 100% sure the the default SMTP address is domain3 and that is what you're trying to out as. It seems like send-as is not working at all. Open another mailbox is different as we have seen it fails in owa too using thr from field.
  12. from OWA, did you not choose the From Field to send as? Outlook Web App (OWA) for Exchange 2010 has the From field option
  13. address book policies. Day job, urrm, im learning exch, lol, iman exch admin -
  14. The very 1st time you send the email via Outlook it works and any attempts after fail & it always works via OWA? just read the post again & want to make sure it clear? You also mention ABP, how are they configured? Any chance to have a look at this over a webex or something similar?
  15. mmh, just yours is unticked right? If you check thr send-as permission via the EMC for helpdesk, does it clearly show the name or does it show guid?
  16. ah, now we may be getting somewhere, is that for the test account to?
  17. Can you check your account & the test account & see if the checkbox for "...inheritance" is ticked on the AD User object?
  18. ok, now you say U are trying to send out as helpdesk, can you create a test account and give that account send-as permission to helpdesk and test. Actually logon as this test acct on windies & test via owa & olk
  19. What is the default SMTP for the user trying to send-as? How many smtp domains do you have? Is the user trying to send-as a different email domain than their default?
  20. Can you try this - How to configure how the Offline Address Book is downloaded when you use Outlook in Cached Exchange Mode Put value 0 & delete any OAB files from the users profile.
  21. any update?
  22. Just a recap, how many DC's do you have and domains?
  23. Unless you have disabled the AS policies. Regardless, I personally recommend using AS with PIN/Policies applied.
  24. There some regkeys you can play around with, but check out these 2 cmdlets which came in RU4. Get-MailboxSentItemsConfiguration Set-MailboxSentItemsConfiguration
  25. pop3 over active sync? Are you sure you're not just using activesync?
