Thread resurrection! We've had a couple of machines fail with power supplies going pop ... are there others out there that have had others fail for other reasons that might have parts available for cannibalisation? Alternatively, has anyone else had to source alternative projectors which are feature and mount compatible with the UF75W (as it appears to be no longer available)?

We had a peculiar issue where a particular set of machines with Intel network interfaces started broadcasting huge amounts of information under certain circumstances while asleep. We had to update the drivers to prevent it, an easy fix, but wasn't immediately obvious as the machines causing the issue appeared to be off whenever it happened.

We have a door system/TDSi that uses the last 8 digits from the MiFare cards, some of our systems (Library/Oliver, Catering/Impact) read the full number, and Printing/Equitrac via AD reads the number provided it has been padded out to 10 digits with leading zeroes.

Didn't I see something about a little tweak involving SQL 2012 when it was originally becoming required? I'll have a hunt through, see if I can find it. edit : it was SQL 2014 not 2012, so please disregard

We didn't believe that it was operating in that state, however we were able to identify and resolve the issue.

We found ourselves caught up in a DDoS attack (DNS amplification) from China against a number of Russian websites last week. If you have the ability to monitor the activity on your WAN link you may wish to check whether you're being affected by something similar. Symptoms included extremely slow or intermittent DNS resolution resulting in extremely slow Internet access.

Also, have you calibrated as well as oriented the board? I know that we had a number of issues some of which were resolved with firmware updates for the cameras/boards. The issue rings a bell, but I don't recall the resolution (SmartInk version is buzzing in the back of my head but I don't know if that was the exact same thing).

I was testing with a copy of the monolithic GPO in a testing OU structure with a test user and a test machine ... but I ended up pruning one item at a time until I found the offending entry, at which point I re-copied the original, adjusted the single faulty entry and re-tested. It would have been nice to simply disable branches of the OU structure and test at each stage, re-enabling afterwards. It is effectively what I did manually, but it made it, in my opinion, unnecessarily arduous. The entry at fault on this occasion was the folder redirection. The setting was set correctly, at least to the visible eye, but removing the 'Documents' folder redirection removed the delay. Surprisingly, reinstating the folder redirection allowed it to stay fixed. I suspect that the entry was corrupted and un-setting and re-setting the value re-wrote it to a valid value.

We have a single, quite complex, GPO which contains all the settings required for a student restricted account, however it has never been as fast as we feel that it should have been. For example the computer GPOs and a couple of user GPOs result in a login of a maximum of 33 seconds, the moment the other GPO is introduced we hit 2 minutes and 45 seconds. My first though is to disable sections of the GPO and narrow down the offending part, but I cannot see a way of doing that. Am I overlooking something?

Based on our conversations they are quite happy for the licenced parts to continue to be used so you don't have to change everything immediately, but we find ourselves in the same situation. If we come up with any bright ideas we'll post them here.

We had that with the first big update following our SQL2008 to SQL2012 update, is was the sa user password as someone else mentioned, it returns a 0.0.0.0 version when it cannot get another response from the database.

Only if they are accessing HTTP instead of HTTPS or forgot the /owa of the end of the URL

The gentleman in our establishment who is attempting to implement this would greatly appreciate further details/scripts etcetera as it sounds like you have moved on the extra steps that we're attempting to implement.

The mirror has a coating which is only a few microns thick, it had a small scratch and fingerprints, a member of the team tried to clean it with a fine cloth and succeeded in removing part of the mirrored surface.

Also interested if anyone has an identical model with a functional mirror, but with some other fault that might be worthy of cannibalisation?

We have a need to replace the mirror for a SMART UF75W projector, the normal providers Steljes has referred us to TSC who have insisted that the replacement of the mirror requires the replacement of the entire 'engine' at a cost of nearly 700GBP excluding VAT. Given the cost of a completely new projector is around 900GBP you can understand why we are looking for alternative suppliers of spare parts or repair services for repairing just the faulty part.
