  1. Yep same issue here, overloaded I think. Admin console also giving random errors
  2. Hard to show a screenshot with all the student names but basically it creates and populates load of groups with the timetable name of Sims. So for example: 11ADr1 - Drama Teacher as the Owner 19 students as Members And this is replicated for all classes on your timetable. It works quite well.
  3. I literally answered that in the video post above yours hehe
  4. Skip to 7mins for Microsofts answer to the take control powerpoint issue, not ideal but it does work.
  5. Yep this is the biggest issue we have as well, I think if you schedule the meeting students go in as attendees but its not ideal. Seems like something that really needs fixing asap due to the amount of disruption a single student can cause.
  6. We use SDS for student classes as well as having an All-Teacher and All-AssociateStaff team with sub channels for each department
  7. Yep it is a requirement to have them set as primary and main for SDS to pull them through.
  8. So the Secondary Policy doesn't seem to have worked, does anyone know how to turn off the ability for students to take control of a powerpoint the teacher is presenting?
  9. Another tip on permissions - Look out for the new "Policy Packages" feature on the teams admin console side blade. It can be used to quickly apply the "Secondary School" policy to 50 users. Much quicker than doing it through the user >> edit feature which can only do a maximum of 20 and takes much longer. I'm 30% of the way through applying the correct policies to our students so they cant take control of powerpoints or launch whiteboards in lessons.
  10. Both Salamander and Ruler.co.uk do SDS for free I believe. Its just a CSV file at the end of the day.
  11. I dont think thats correct, we are on the free tier and running live broadcasts all the time.
  12. https://admin.teams.microsoft.com/policies/messaging
  13. Cool that means its done, make sure teams is licensed and activated properly is probably your next step.
  14. We used the ruler.co.uk app to bulk apply licenses. Worked well but it costs.
  15. Some more tips: - When you are in a live meeting, you just click on the share icon (the oblong with the arrow pointing into it), and it gives you the option to share loads of things including a Whiteboard. Using Word to type stuff might be a better option if you haven’t got a tablet and a stylus. - Teachers may user the permission tab in teams (Click the team you wish to change >> top right three dots “…” >> manage channel >> “only owners can post messages” to mute the main chat window if needed. This will change the permissions so that only teachers can post messages for a time. It can be turned off or on any time. - Teachers can record live broadcasts using Microsoft stream link once the meeting is open
  16. Busy time I guess Keep trying, they have a client you can download as well.
  17. When you look at all the groups in the Office 365 portal, are there ones with section* in their names? Those will be the SDS created teams groups. You should also see them when editing a user in the "group membership" list.
  18. If you've just done it now, wait 24hrs, it takes time to provision. When staff login it can take 5mins to show sometimes I've found as it needs to initialise once a teacher is logged in. You can always check it worked on the SDS dashboard or in the Office 365 portal "member of groups" on the users page.
  19. A bit of a silly question really, of course not but it is possible manually to record the session. Its an online classroom though so same principles apply for safeguarding as they do in real life.
  20. Is there any way to pay upfront for 1 year or maybe 3?
  21. Shouldn't it already apply the policies via the Faculty or Student licensing when the user is created?
  22. We have chat enabled on the main class, works well here. Students can ask questions during a live broadcast, the teacher tends to answer these questions at the end. Students just need to get used to online learning like anyone else, normal classroom management should still apply when using chat and making sure the students behave. Its no different than them talking in class without permission.
  23. Just use the chat feature on the right hand side? Yeh the lesson management side of things is unknown at the moment, i'm not sure how you mute all the people watching either yet.
  24. We have 1 primary file server with all school data on, which is replicated to a backup server. We also backup using veeam to the cloud cloud each night. All are VM's on local SSD storage.
  25. From watching the lesson at the back of the room, it was pretty clear to me that the video side of things didn't add very much. I'll be advising teachers to just use Audio over their slides.
