We have authentication working using AD credentials. (They don't need to be re-entered it's all automatic) Fun for spotting students sharing accounts.

I'm not a big fan of moodle but I used this when asked for moodle... Windows Web App Gallery - Install an App It's about as simple as you can get I believe. Especially if you can just throw up a VM to play with.

Seen the exact same error on a wired connection recently. Basically the switch wasn't initiating the connection fast enough. Moved it to another switch all was fine. Not really helpful other than to investigate your wireless which is where we were at earlier.

Yep we're running VMware on a SD card but we have no SAN. We got the VMware essentials bundle which includes three host licences and the Vcentre licence. (Vcenter is worth every penny) We use Veeam to replicate and back up our VMs I still use DPM to back up our data, file recovery is much simpler and quicker with DPM. Currently have 2 hosts, R710, with 48G Ram and 8x 600Gb (15K SAS) drives and a T710 exact spec but with 10 drives Both servers are physically separated across the site Veeam replicates our live VMs on the R710 to the T710. Veeam backs up our VMs to the DPM server in a third physical location The T710 rather than sit idle with replicated DMs onboard actually runs 5 RDS servers in a farm. We use this for our older laptops to be useful, they make a remote desktop to them. We also use Sonicwall to give RDP connections at home to the Farm. So no SAN sure you lose the ability to move VMs in a fraction of a second. But I didn't really see a need for that and the SAN then becomes a single point of Failure in the event it does. Happy to provide more info if you need it. I'm loving our setup and virtualisation in general. Create a server in seconds (from a template I've created) fantastic. We've digressed a little bit. That could be the cause of your logon bats not running. Probably the best place to focus on, connections being dropped.

That's probably normal behaviour I just googled throughput for 802.11n and the figures coming up aren't much better than what you are getting. Like I said unless you get a dual band AP you're going to hit throughput limitations on the one radio. Of course your clients will need to support 802.11a to take advantage of any load balancing. But even 1.5Mb/s is good enough for most activities your users will be doing I'd have thought?

You're using ruckus? Well the dual band ones here work well and looking at my access point list they do load balance their connections over both radios.

85MBps = just over 10Mb/s so yes I guess so. Assuming all 6 are sharing the same throughput.

Just racking my brains for random Wireless issues I've had in the past. Are both the APs and the wireless cards configured to Open authentication not shared. Also try windows config or the 3rd party config utilities. One test I do when setting up is ping the laptop continuously from my desktop and reboot it to see at what point the laptop regains network connectivity. Our laptops here take up to 30 seconds from standby to regain connectivity. I believe the wait for network GPO helps with these sort of issues.

Alternatively, if you use multiple folders for the user areas (i.e. staff, 07, 08, 09 ect...) I did exactly the same as above but deleted H:\desktop.ini (all home drives are H:\ here) and make sure to tick the common option "run in logged on users security context" (user policy)

(We have some orange 62.5/125 and when I started some miss matched patch cables) The only real way to know is read what's printed.

Which is usually printed on the cable if you can get to it.

Had this and fixed it. Using a user GPP regedit. We have a windows 2008R2 domain with windows 7 clients. You can copy and paste the lines below if you wish or manually recreate the preferences. Of course test it first.

(the 802.11a runs on a separate antennae so by having a/b/g/n cards the access point has 2 antennae it can make use of and load balance, if you bought the zf7962 access points that is) I imagine your access points are connected up with 1Gbps links too.

Do you have 802.11an wireless cards in them. We have ruckus that supports a and g (so 2.4 and 5.? frequencies) It makes a massive difference to performance, they aren't teribly expensive cards to buy. All our new equipment has them already but our older Dell D500/505/520 only had 802.11g cards in and performance was terrible.

Well it's in the testing phase but I think I've managed to destroy it enough to let the kids at it. The rational behind the 2nd browser (IE being the first) is that our ICT department scheme of work requires (created) website testing on more than one platform.
