Well I redirect the desktop to a common folder which students don't have permission to save to. This stops them creating lots of icons. However they can still move them but don't have enough icons to create anything artistic They can still rename what they do have though, and that bugs the hell out of me. Well not sufficiently enough for me to get round to stopping it. As for mouse pointers how are they doing this. They must have some control panel access? D.

Ok we bought some new dell laptops. I'm a big fan of Dell I always get prompt warranty repairs (NBD). Also parts are easy to interchange so I keep a spare on hand for when one breaks. We have 3com 4950 and 4900sx. They hook up to other 3com 4228G (these do not have mtrj connectors). All our kit is 3com though so I can't say anything about the hp stuff other than theres no reason why it shouldn't work.

Not had time to read all posts but update the APS with the patch released today. Otherwise you may have some students unable to log on to the second test. We had 8 out of 74 unable to do session 2.

I removed the proofing tools and renamed msspell3.dll to msspell3.old. Did the trick (remember to restart word if you have it open already) D.

It might be of interest to note that Sims isn't supported over terminal services. So any problems you encounter are your own. Further Lesson monitor is problematic using it via a terminal services session. Theres a lock file created for the database by the first person to use LM, any one on after that will come into difficulties. I don't recommend you use terminal services to get round your problem.
