Well a couple of hours later and my download fails at 80% and won't restart *&^%ing easy-share...in short then. I won't be trying ChromeOS until they get iso hosting sorted.

Have you got WSUS on gibbo_ap? I've seen one or two of these pop up and nothing do do with any package deployment as I hadn't pushed anything out in weeks. Thought maybe something in a MS update the AV doesn't like?

any details on what specific threat it was? Virus name etc? I take it you fully scanned before packaging? I've got gimp2.6 install network-wide and no issues here.

If your teaching staff look anything like most of the ones I've seen you wouldn't want any eduboobs.... maybe a niche market though.

I'd second what Nephilim says, make it a sensible amount and charge hourly, that way they won't take the *%$£ with daft jobs and shouldn't keep you hanging around for ages waiting for things to happen, and if they do, oh well you're still earning. Flat rates invite abuse as far as I'm concerned... you'll just end up with a load of "Before you go...." and "Whilst you're here...." style issues.

Snow here, and some icy patches, I'm very glad I was taking it easy when the Golf coming the other way decided to ignore the driver's attempts to turn the corner. Both stopped in time, but still got the adrenaline flowing. Kids coming in saying "Can I go home at lunch?". Honestly it's daft, we're in you're in, school will continue as normal. I like snow days, I can remote in if i have to and have spent a great deal of time and effort pushing staff and students to use cloud based services so in the event of a snow day learning resources can still be delivered.... mwahahaha.

Yeah, plenty of reviews of software, side by side comparisons etc, and regular tutorials section with usually 6 tutorials ranging from gimp work to python and php programming. I've got just over a years worth of issues in my office as a very handy library should I ever need them (and I do use them quite a lot).

I pick up Linux Format on a semi regular basis, tutorials on things I might not think to try in the first place and some useful ideas. True there's very little I couldn't find online with some digging, but it's a nice read.

Just check with the teacher they mean "screensaver" as we understand it. My teachers ask for them all the time when what they actually want is a different desktop background.

Think I saw this a fair while back, but still shocking. I would say I can't believe people would do that but I guess that's not true. I've had to recover documents for private clients before, and always just dump the main docs folder to DVD with instructions on how to sort it out from there, there's no way I'm going delving into personal pictures/docs etc, the mind boggles.
