Have added the option to turn on logging to an external log file for the email poller, will test this over the next day or so to make sure it is logging correctly and then will let you have it. Hopefully we can work out what is happening at your site
-
@tomearnshaw - hmmm was kinda hoping you was going to say IMAP, MS Exchange support for IMAP is flaky at best and some people have had no issues with it while others have had to resort to POP3 or setting up another non Exchange email server just for OPSD, extreme I know ! However over the past couple of versions support for POP3 has become stronger with v2.3 not having any issues reported with POP3 so I am puzzled why you are getting this. If you give me a couple of days I will sort out a debug version of the email polling so we can log each action and response from the server to see if we can narrow down what is happening on your server, that should give us a clue to resolving your issue.

@vikpaw Yes my bad missed the link I have responded to your support ticket and you should have your license key now along with links to the v2.3 & v2.4 release notes and the upgrade instructions. Yes v2.4.25 is the latest release. Yes https://opsoftware.net/helpdesk/ is no longer active as we have consolidated everything in to one place for customers here https://opsoftware.net/customers/ this should help with finding things you need as it was one of the main comments made during our last round of customer feedback sessions.

The issues for us is not that we cannot provide SSO it is that the builtin .Net method will only work with IE, if you use any other browser you will still be prompted to login and not via the normal login page but a nasty little popup. We are trying to provide an SSO method that will allow for any internal browser to "just login" but if you are accessing from outside the school network to be rediredted to the original login page. I 100% agree that SSO is a must but I don't want to provide half a solution, for me that is not a solution but a hack We will do it, we just need to get it right.

@reggiep Intergration with AD has always been in there, SSO on the otherhand is another thing and to date has proven to be a challenge. Can I ask what it is you expect SSO to do for you, in the sense of end users and tech staff? If you are going to use this as a means to get end users to use the helpdesk then you could do what a mojority of schools do and use the email polling faciity and simply let staff email in new requests and updates to exisiting ones. This has the benefit of almost zero training.

Have PM'd you.

Are you using POP3 or IMAP? What version of Exchange is it?
-
@Tallwood_6 - Did you get the direct download I sent you? Still try to sort the issue with your account

Hi Jonah, I agree that calculation of these were a little off however from v2.4 onwards these have been revised and revamped as per the attached screenshot. You will see that the dates are much better and look good too :-)

Create an empty database on the new server, backup the database on the old one, restore that datbase backup on the new server and then update your web.config file to point at the new database server.

We can do all but number 4, however from Jan 2013 we will be covering number 4 also with our BETA testers scheduled to start testing from next week. This is what we will cover on point 4 from Jan 2013: Monitor Internet Protocols: DHCP DNS FTP HTTP(s) ICMP Ping IMAP MailServer LDAP NNTP NTP POP3 RADIUS SFTP SMTP SMPP SMTP/POP3 Roundtrip SNMP GET SNMP Traps TCP TFTP TraceRoute Monitor Windows: Active Directory Anti-Virus CPU Usage Directory Disk Drives Disk Space Event Log Files Memory Usage MS Exchange MS Index Server MS IIS Server MS ISA Server MS SharePoint MS SQL Server MSMQ MS Terminal Server Performance Counters PowerShell Printers Processes Registry Remote Command Removable Drives Scheduled Task Services VBScript Windows Defender Monitor Linux / Unix: SSH RSH Monitor Database: MS Access MS SQL MySQL ODBC Oracle Monitor Environmental: Humidity Light Motion Resistance Smoke Temperature Monitor Miscellaneous: Door (open/close) Power Serial Device All of the above are not just up/down tests they are extensive and customisable to ensure acurate testing with full graphing and direct to helpdesk notifications when predefined triggers are met.

We should have a downloadable demo version in the next couple of weeks just working out a few issues with it at the moment.

What is the problem??

OP SmartDesk supports AD Authentication with Single Sign-On (SSO) coming in Jan 2013
-
Currently you can be linked to either one or all queues. The ability to choose any number of queues has been requested and is on the roadmap for v2.4 with the ETA being Jan 2013 - You can see more here: Roadmap - OP Software Issue Tracker

OK, let me know how you get on. We have not had any issues with either the Print Manager or Asset Manager not showing in this manner.
-
Hi dblakeley, I agree with Edu-IT something is not right there. Have you applied the latest version that was released yesterday?
-
Are you getting any emails generated? Have you tested you outgoing SMTP settings? This can be done by going to Home -> Email Setup -> SMTP Settings -> Test If your SMTP is OK you then need to check your From and Group email addresses linked to the support queues. The from email address is where the email is sent back to if a user replies to an email generated by OPSD if you are not email polling then this should be a distribution group for the staff that handle that support queue. The group email address is a distribution group for staff that look after that queue and any support emails generated by OPSD this group will be CC'd on. The caveat to this is Exchange 2010 (and possibly Exchange 2007 too) where the email address/user account used to send email out, under your SMTP settings, MUST have send as rights on the from email address if these are different. If you are email polling then this will be the case and emails will not be sent and excahnge will simply delay and the drop the emails generated. Shout me if you want to do a remote session so we can take a look at your settings.

Hi AshF, The ability to extend the custom fileds to drop-downs, radio buttons, checkboxes etc is a feature for v2.4 and is part of that roadmap. This will apply to both the support request and asset manager custom fields. Currently support custom fields are linked to support queues and upon selecting a support queue the additional fields are displayed, with the asset manager the asset type triggers the custom fields. In each case the you can have an unlimited number of custom fields linked. From v2.4 you will be able to link the asset to a support request allowing for previous asset histories and vice versa making a much more powerful tool alround. Hope this helps, shout if you need any more info.

We will be testing this in the next few days. If all proves to be OK in testing will see if we can sort something out for you.
