  1. This will explain the delay: OP SmartDesk Update…. | OP Software - Solutions for Education however trademarks are in just waiting on patents as soon as we have these we will release it. Just as an update the free light version of OP SmartDesk with have this feature in it as standard.
  2. Sneek Peek of one of the features of the next version: Sneek Peek: Staff Calendars | OP Software - Solutions for Education
  3. What version of IE (inc build). Have you tried using FireFox, do you get the same result?
  4. The poller it self (the countdown bit in the bottom right) is not subject to session expiry so as long as the admin page is NOT refreshed the counter and poller will still continue to work as expected. To be honest once you have setup most of your items and sensors there should be no real reason to refresh that admin area continually.
  5. It's not by design for the monitor but it is by design on a MS Server. The good news is that you can increase the timeout period to as much as you want. In IIS6 do the following: The default timeout value is set to 90 seconds. You can increase this value within IIS Manager: 1 - Open IIS Manager 2 - Expand Web Sites 3 - Right-click on SMSReporting_SiteCode and select Properties 4 - Within the Virtual Directory tab, click on the Configuration button 5 - Within the Options tab, enter the desired timeout value in the ASP Script Timeou field (shown in seconds) 6 - Click OK, Click OK, then close the IIS Manager In IIS7 do the following: 1 - Open IIS Manager and navigate to the level you want to manage. For information about opening IIS Manager, see Open IIS Manager (IIS 7). For information about navigating to locations in the UI, see Navigation in IIS Manager (IIS 7). 2 - In Features View, double-click ASP. 3 - On the ASP page, under Services, expand Session Properties. 4 - In the Time-out field, enter a time-out value in the format hh:mm:ss. For example, enter 00:15:00 for 15 minutes. 5 - In the Actions pane, click Apply. You cannot be logged in forever as IIS will not allow it however 24 hours = 86400 seconds so you could try setting this value and see how you get on. I am not sure if the session timeout value has an upper limit so this would be trial and error.
  6. Right OK, then you should get a warning on the front end status page. Let me have a look for you.
  7. OK a couple of things to check here. Please make sure that the service name and service detail are correct, i posted what these should be on the first or second page of this thread. If you post a service that either does not exist or is disabled then the sensor check is simply ingnored. Does the service report as being stopped in the admin area?
  8. We wanted to make this as lightweight as possible hence no need for clients to be installed anywhere and (unfortunatley) no windows service to run the polling. Glad you like it though
  9. I am trying to get one sorted, hopefully tonight
  10. Yes that would about do it. The JQuery CSS and AJAX modules are pulled down from the Google Content Delivery Network (CDN) to ensure that are kept upto date and available this also reduces the overall delivery size of the software. No internet = no content
  11. I think now would be a good time to start again as it would appear you are getting a little confused. When adding you DNS record create a record for netmonitor pointing to the IP address of the web server, next when you create the site on the webserver and you are at the host headers section (step 7 on the guide) simply add netmonitor and continue with the rest of the setup. Should all be setup OK you simply need to open your web browser and enter http://netmonitor/admin/ and you should get the admin login page.
  12. Please excuse my lack of responses but I am not getting the notification emails, note to self set edugeek domain as whitlist on SPAM filter I will deal with your requests one by one below: This is incorrect you do not need to have them admin page open in order to provide access to the public status page. Admin only needs to be open in order to poll sensors. the public page can be accessed by anyone at anytime. How much space is reported in the admin area and how much space is reported on the windows server itself? Sounds to me like the CSS files are not being loaded, did you setup the monitor site in IIS as a dedicated site or as a sub directory of another site? I really would not give anyone access to the admin area that does not need it. The fixes you need in order to get the correct icons are as follows: 1 - Open the incs folder and within this open the file called functions.asp in notepad 2 - On line 429 change this strSQL=strSQL & "'2'," to this strSQL=strSQL & "'3'," 3 - On line 441 change this strSQL=strSQL & "current_status='2'" to this strSQL=strSQL & "current_status='3'" 4 - On line 573 change this strSQL=strSQL & "current_status='3'" to this strSQL=strSQL & "current_status='2'" 5 - On line 990 change this strSQL=strSQL & "'2'," to this strSQL=strSQL & "'3'," 6 - On line 1002 change this strSQL=strSQL & "current_status='2'" to this strSQL=strSQL & "current_status='3'" 7 - On line 1139 change this strSQL=strSQL & "'2'," to this strSQL=strSQL & "'3'," 8 - On line 1151 change this strSQL=strSQL & "current_status='2'" to this strSQL=strSQL & "current_status='3'" The above changes will ensure that sensors are reported correctly, the download source has already been updated with these fixes.
  13. There is an issue where the service may be down or stopped but the public display does not register this although the admin area does. If a Connectivity Check fails (PING) then this should register as DOWN and not WARNING and if a service is stopped then this should register as a WARNING. I have fixed this and will post up and quick guide on how to resolve the issue later today
  14. Sorry for the confusuion the install docs need to be updated. The place to update the password is indeed the setting.asp file.
  15. The only reseller I know of in the UK is IDNS I can get you a contact name and number if you need it (PM me)
  16. OK I have been seeing this ad for a couple of days now tried to get the URL but VodaFone content filtering kicks in so it cannot be suitable for schools or work for that matter.
  17. What I would say is that yes this is a great idea BUT...... Given the number of USB items plugged into a teachers PC these days and given that you only have 3.3 milliamps of power available will the laucnh button fire. Also if you can get them to hit a button can they not hit a shortcut? What happens when the novelty wears off will they still use it?
  18. Well done that man! Congrats to all, good to hear all are doing well.
  19. Make sure that you turn on monitoring, by default when you add an item monitor this item is set to NO. This is done so you have time to add sensors before you start getting warnings.

  24. There are 3 ways you can do this for free: 1 - Use the builtin windows performance monitor to record the data that you need, beware this tool should only really be used for short periods of time as it can place a load on the PC AND fill up disk space quickly depending on the amount of data gathered. ( windows performance monitor network - Google Search ) 2 - Use the free version of PRTG and setup a counter to monitoer the network usage of that PC, this will help if you are needing tomonitor the PC over an extended period of time. ( PRTG is a network performance monitor for Windows ) 3 - As per plexers post also all options will take time to setup but should weild the results you need.
