Your right to ask, we've had big companies say no and ended up monitoring firewalls to restrict things down. Typically voice will use a range of ports such as 5080, 5060, 5061, 5004, 9000, 80, 443, 5004, 9000, 10000-60000 (used for Webex client for example), we have a list of IP's along as anything, but when you look at the FQDN's its using its only a handful. Our handsets are on a seperate network but as you are locking down a set number of ports to that IP list you are locking things down as best as you can but VOIP does require quite a bit, don't be surprised for them to ask you for you external IP to allow things through, if you can create an outbound NAT for them bits and give it its own IP address if you have any spare. On the other hand 3CX only requires 5060, 5061, 5090, 9000-10999 in my instance. Any good supplier will have a technical document available on their website with the details in, stand your ground and get it all from them in a confirmed email, don't be surprised if things change once you have implemented it and they don't tell you, common theme we have with our VOIP supplier.

Those of you using Samsung devices may find it works without having to put a certificate on it where as Google Pixel's dont as they are following security properly just incase anyone is caught out.

So when creating a rule you have to specify an IP rather than FQDN when adding it, that seems a bit backwards. When I am working on firewalls I do everything via FQDN, very rare to list an IP unless its a range. If I was you and as a Smoothwall user I'd be putting in a feature request to make your life easier!

When creating your rule can you not specify the hostname rather than IP address? That way when hitting the policy it will look up the IP then, not familiar with Smoothwall but others such as Watchguard and pfSense both allow this.

Makes no difference where USB reciever is still happens and in two very different environments. Battery is charged in is, even tried plugging it via the USB cable and using it that way, no change.

What has working at another school got to do with it, they could work at corporation 123 that uses 365, they are a parent regardless. 3 options really, share it to them using 365 to their email of choice, could be a gmail or corporation123 that is their choice, email them the document as an attachment again to email of their choice and password protect the document or print it let them manually edit it and send it back (probably not the prefered choice). Lots of people use work email addresses but its something we discourage but how they manage their email is their choice.

Newly imaged device, Dell wireless mouse which works perfectly on previous device but on this one when scrolling down using the wheel it often goes up. Settings all match, works fine on old device so something specific to new device, uninstalled and reinstalled driver, any suggestions as doing my head in.

If you are already using 365 then is it needed? More for local file servers, its a good product but things have moved on probably for most.

Your £1.99 is it recycled none white paper at probably 70gsm or is it white 80gsm paper?

The only way I'm aware it could be done is with a NAC solution such as PacketFence for example.

Thanks for the replies. The reason I am wanting to take the car is we are off to visit a few places whilist we are there and its easier. Probably will stay in a Premier Inn as its something I know but will have a look around. Ferry doesn't bother me, like to do different things, never flown so not in any rush to! Thanks for the heads up about drink drivers handy to know. We are going to be visiting quite a bit of the island so handy to know about any places worth a look, looking to do what were doing but enjoy some of the island too.

Paper prices have shot right up, I bought my first box of 5 reams for home in a number of years recently and what used to be £10 a box is now £25 or there abouts for just plain standard A4 paper no recycled or any of that other stuff. I wanted one of the more premium papers but prices were silly. To work out your cost per page is paper, cost per copy for print, lease, electricity, and if you wanted to include any engineer time in that. Obviously if you do double sided you only need to include your cost per copy rather than everything else then double your costs for A3 and you need to factor mono and colour costs. I need to review my prices now I've added our printers onto our PaperCut which need to be higher costs than the copiers but its one of them jobs I keep putting off. If you are including printers you need to factor in things like drums and any mainteannce kids. Cartridge Save is a good website to use to get costings and the various things give page counts to enable you to do the calculations.

Had heard the Heysham ferry was best to go for, which site did you book it with? I'm coming over from the east coast so its easy to go to either of them. You can never go wrong with a Premier Inn.

Looking to go to IOM this year for a couple of days, take the car over, 3 or 4 of us, anyone done it and give any recommendations? Any recommendations for the ferry?

They are fairly simple to be honest to get a basic system running, if I am honest with you cloud based is the way to go I think, bit like Exchange servers I think, something you could do without the headache of. I'd happily host and run out own phone system but it becomes a full time job if your not careful I think.
