I have a requirement for a Dynamic DNS client to put on some PC's for the purposes of some firewall rules. Currently I have been using NO-IP which has a limit of 3 which has done me, it gives me a domain.ddns.net, every 30 days I just confirm that I still want to use it as such. I need to expand and need more so will have to pay for something, just wondered if anyone else is using any others? I can get 2 years and up to 25 host names for £36 which is £1.50 a month. I have my own domain but would like to create a sub domain of dns.mydomain.co.uk so the end ones would be user.dns.mydomain.co.uk Any thoughts on this, I have no option as clients are on none static IP's externally. You cannot get a phone to show a name on caller ID it will show a number. What I think you are meaning is that you want all outgoing call to present with the school number regardless of which phone is used? You can specify this on the extension in question or if you are using SIP trunks and you can specify it there too. Some mobiles will show a name if using smart numbers where it will search the internet and match it that way but what I think you are wanting is that regardless of which phone is used they all show say 01234 567890 rather than different ones.

I cannot see it happening by 2025 certainly for BT customers. Coppers lines are still going to be in place for the likes of internet circuits. KCom on the other hand are doing well moving customers to fibre, their ONT can handle the voice part but there is no provision for power failure and the ONT's are flaky at times to say the least. Business and consumer use the same model. I don't think many use landlines for calls now, my Dad had no real need to keep it anymore any family members that are left call on mobile which is cheaper than the BT package, recently downed his package to pay for what calls are used as its cheaper. When we can I will port the number onto my SIP platform and have it as a line only then we keep it as minimal cost just incase plus its quite a catchy number.

That's good to hear, I'd never use a stock router for the likes of WiFi but always good to hear positive reviews.

Gotta put the work in but for £30 a month its a good price, cheaper than my 200Mb VM connection! Would you recommend them?

Might be wrong but I think recordings have moved to an individual now rather than from an organisational store as such in a comment that was passed to me last week.

Following on from the upgrade topic got me thinking about something. If you had 4 organisations each with their own 3CX server and I suppose same could be said with FreePBX, each site independent, in the past on analogue systems I've had you dial a 3 digit code for a site then the extension number can you do this with either of them? There would be a link somewhere but not sure how its termed. We used to call it VPN dialling as we could phone any organisation up and down the UK with the 3 digit code but never had any dealing with config side. Can this be done with modern VoIP systems? Wanting to keep organisations separate but be able to dial each other just wondering like I do.

Still on 18 on my server not done it yet, really need to take a image of server before I do it.

We are a corporate organisation and can only dream of a 10Gbps connection, 1Gbps suites our need, although we have multiple for resilience, I could not imagine a connection of that speed. I'd agree overkill for a school like that.

Can you browse to that path on the computer in questions first? Need to be able to check that DNS is working first.

Firstly can you browse to that oath as a user on the computer? What is the exact message you get if you do a gpupdate? I've had to delete the .pol file on the client and let it download before. If just that policy is playing up disable it and check others work ok, then maybe recreate if all else doesn't fail.

Ah that's interesting about only primaries getting 10Gbps. How do they compare with other bigger ISP's and a similar connection if you have had that before?

Anyone in the B4RN area and have any experience of their network?

All good having this speed but I bet the local infrastructure is shocking!! We've only got a 1Gb connection for organisation as a whole! B4RN supply local places like this with free connections often in return of having a cabinet sited on land or sometimes just to give back to the community it seems.

Lucky to get a free connection of that speed, maybe a little over kill for a small primary but not bad doing. B4RN are doing well developing their network if anyone hasn't been following them, I am slightly jealous of those that live out that area that can get the service, if they can do this why can the big ones not do the same?

You would need MF to do what is needed. Would also need licenses and the copiers would need to be configured for it too. As regards to the above regarding pushing registry settings out, I've never had success doing this, it never seems to work.

I would recommend you move to something like PaperCut, all print management is centralised, one print queue, links to AD, can have a central PIN code to login or you can use a swipe card/proximity. All jobs by default can be held so no wastage and stuff sat on printers.

If you right click on the job and click report it will give you more information.

That is a pass, where it shows fail is the previous result. Have the same issue daily with my current setup in process of migrating to new setup so hopefully Veeam will fly through.

The Dell one is a WD15 off the top of my head, it doesn't charge, like you say Dell had something going on with the early ones. I've not long replaced my monitors on my home setup where I'm going to be using it and there was no need for it then and I am not replacing monitors again just for this. We use Lenovo monitors in the office with the hub's built in but I'm not going from 27" to 24" bad enough on the day I work in the office.

I currently use a Dell docking station which means I can plug in a USB C cable to my laptop and link everything to my Dell laptop. This is been replaced for a Lenovo and the Dell dock doesn't work with just the 1 cable so need to source a new dock so after any recommendations. Current one is only 1 HDMI, ideally would like 2 HDMI ports to make use of dual screen, multi USB and able to charge from the one cable. Any recommendations please.

ASDA ones defiantly have no one there, had to use the phone once as had an issue and someone come over, in the little hut that's on site is the computer and CCTV running it all and that is it. I had an issue with getting a receipt and needed one for work before so he did a print out in there. There is a Gulf that I travel past just literally plonked in the middle of a car park, no one around, again a little hut where I guess everything is controlled from.

Here is the SysInternals from November 2016 if its any use, it has process mon in it, did have a copy of filemon/regmon but cannot find them anymore. Hope its of some use on my Dropbox here.

Not sure on costs, I've just installed the kit. Must of been as the last job I put 3 of them in. I suppose it all depends how much you are going to do. You need to look at the volume you are doing and do the math what it would cost v outsource etc. I know the ones I installed were doing work for other schools and earning money that way too.
