Why do people complain? Facebook dont care, its not your site it belongs to Facebook and you choose to give them your data. They can and will do with it whatever they like . Would love to see where Facebook is in 3 years time.

This seems backwards to me, the original question should be "What are our aims and what do we want to achieve?" if what you want can best be achieved by ipads go for it . Dont buy a solution before you know the question. I am afraid this happens in eduICT all the time - PDA`s ?

Enjoy flashing your phones once you start you wont stop i run CM6 on my desire and find it a lot better, especially battery life. I love that i can backup my ROMs now so i dont mind messing or installing lots of Roms. I use ROM manager for this.

Gove is taking us back to the 50`s , can they not see in that technology companies are making money and we need to educate our students with the skills to compete in this market. I admit current ICT cources that teach Word ,excel etc are outdated now so lets revamp it with new media skills. This government also did not want to give games makers in this country tax breaks like other entertainment industries even though its the fastest growing and shows no sign of stopping with kinect being the upgrade of choice for all those dustys wii`s out there. i have a feeling this government just dont "get computers". Then HL2 came - i had it downloaded on steam before release date and it was unlocked at 7 in the morning and i took the day off work to play through what i still think is one of the greatest video games for a moment getting the uber gravity gun and the level " We Don't Go To Ravenholm" The first big monster in Doom 3 which scared the life outta me when he is storming you and knocking the door in. the beach landing was epic on MOH seeing Quake GL and thinking gfxs will never get better than this! This is very true my only it experience at school was word processing on Amstrad green screens. I thought all children were "digital natives" now why do they need to learn MS office by not just PE teachers but alot of IT teachers do not have an IT background. I can see some ipads(or any other device that is in vouge) for all pupils to make IT "cool" :-)

Its not accessable to everyone - i know people who would love to play video games now but put a pad in there hands and they become frustrated and give up on the steep learning curve that gamers from and eary age take for granted. Give them a motion device and they feel they can do it and get invovled. The gaming industry is massive now but is harder that sitting on a sofa or cinema screen so to intise new users and make more money this is the way to go. The great thing about gaming now is there is somthing for everyone :-)

I am tired if all this "think of the children" education is the key not restriction. As we move towards a fully digital world student will use photos and blogs etc to post bad things like they would have wrote notes graffiti and drawn images of others that were offensive. They want technology to help T&L and then say its unsafe for children to use.

The library here has gone when the librarian left, it will now be a computer based learning centre which will be very nice but i do beleive the library has a place as well. No one will relise untill we have chucked all the books aways away and they become more expensive than the latest IPAD

Cant beleive i had forgot all about Fern gully until just then when i read this post . I loved all the disney stuff as a kid but a few non disney films were great and this was one of them. Nice to see the pixar man has made Disney go back to do drawing animation in the new move The princess and the frog maybe CGI and 3D are not the furture, we are just being told it is by people wanting to sell us new TV`s after we have just got HD.

we have a charging system in place we just dont charge the students,Couldnt get the SMT to agree to that, students need printed work for school and by making them pay we are denying them educational rights. I would like to know how others get on with this. Printing and copying are massive wastes of resources when i was NM i tried very hard not to dish out printers because now when you start taking them away to cut cost people will get upset .

I dont think the choice of VLE is the issue its the drive from SMT and the implentation of them that is the key to success.

This is causing no end of trouble as the projectors get washed out by the sunshine and SMT wont cough up for new blinds or the rooms with blinds have sligh crack so a strong beal slowly moves across the boards through out the day. I was wondering if anyone had some creative solutions to this problem?

Its just funny that he asumes schools dont care about price and just pay over the odds for all its stuff. I hope this wont lead to the cheapest solution being the right one . Cheap now pay later.
