Im a bit confused: Is the linux server the file server hosting the samba share or is the linux machine trying to access the Samba share?

I have it set for 19:00 but I have seen that sometimes Windows will install them earlier or throughout the day; I think security updates and app updates slightly differ. but I have attached my GPO settings for you: So the updates install at approx 19:00 and then with the task scheduled shutdown it will install the updates at 10 pm if there are any.

Its not just the first time you log in; its every time after that as well. I have the welcome screen disabled via GPO and even logging in with local administrator it will take around 5 minuets before you have access to the start menu.

Hi All I did a mass install of Win 10 this summer on student machines Every machine including the new PC's we purchased (Dell Optiplex AIO 3050's) will take about 6 to 10 mins to log in; even with local administrator plus other odd issues such as the start menu not being responsive.I found that Windows Security Update KB4343909 was the culprit and uninstalled it. Might help a few of you.

Hi So I have been doing this method for some time: I have the machines install the updates throughout the day and not restart. I then have a schedule on every machine to shut down the PC's at 8pm. I have also disabled users from shutting down their machines, so when the machines do shutdown the updates get installed. don't get me wrong its about 95% effective but its the best solution I have found in regard to keeping all the PC's up to date.

have you checked to make sure you are putting https:// before the ip address, some of my systems require this as if you just put the ip address it uses http and will throw up a 404 you may have already tried this but sometimes its the simple things

Where do you wan't to install it to? You can install it on your machine, copy the install folder to your desktop and use a program like Advanced Installer (The free version) to create a new msi and you can put the folder where ever you like. If you would like instructions on how to use that software I don't mind giving you a hand.

100% agree! I would love to move them all over to a flavour of Linux; they would all have a heart attack though...

It looks like they are still trying to reach an agreement; I got off the phone to my supplier today and he was told possibly by the end of the month...

That guide is for PDQ Deploy; Which is a brilliant software; I have used it for many years and opted for the paid version 2 years ago. it is the best way to install software over the network. You can follow this tutorial and just install the free version; you don't need to the paid one. Honestly take some time to learn it you won't regret it

Hi All So I am having a bit of an issue creating the new DHCP server on our new network. We have a new physical server running Xenserver 7.0 and the DHCP is being run on Server 2016. Our switches are all HP and the core switch has the the old DHCP hard coded into the Trap Receiver So these are the steps I have done so far... Created new DHCP on Server 2016 Assigned the same IP address and MAC address to the network for the new VM hosting the new DHCP so it mimics the OLD DHCP server settings. The Core switch has the Trap Receiver set to the old DHCP and this goes for every other switch in the school so by giving the new DHCP server the same IP I can save a lot of time by not changing the IP address on ever switch. I have made a copy of all the scopes from the old DHCP and copied them to the new one (checked all the copes for consistency). I then un-authenticated the old DHCP and stopped the DHCP Server service then authenticated the the new DHCP and restarted the service. I have added the credentials for the server on the IPV4 settings on the DHCP settings here: The bindings is set to the IP address of the server like the old one DHCP server is: So with all of that I get the Blue Explanation Mark on the IPV4 saying I have run out of IP address which is wrong because I have thousands left so no IP address are being sent out What else could I be missing? Its been driving me mad for weeks. Any help with the issue would be brilliant Regards Safa

This is odd, i guess its not as simple as that. Its a shame microsoft dont seem to be doing anything about it! Its worked for me but i guess it may depend on how you have the GPO setup aswell. I have made sure my roaming profiles dont go any bigger than 5mb. Everything redirects to other folders. Also no scripts for maped drives and printers, everything is done via GPP. I think we can all agree its something to do with timeouts but it might be infulenced how we have our networks set up.

I have had the same issue with Windows 10 Machines. I fixed mine by disabling a specific task so far I have had 100% success rate; no more black screens when logging in to a domain account. Make sure you have joined the domain before you do this. - Login as as a local admin - Go to Task Scheduler - Expand Microsoft > Windows > Work Place Join - In that folders there will be an item called Automatic-Workplace-Join. Disable, restart the machine. That and you you shouldn't have any more issues. hope this helps! Regards
