Lucifer is one of the funniest shows I've seen recently. Also missing Sherlock already. And I still need to finish Game of Thrones and The Walking Dead too! Why is there not enough time to watch everything...

I had to do this a couple of years ago. I can't remember the exact program, but we had a spare Windows XP machine that was used by the science department as a data logger. I plugged in a webcam that we positioned on a load of textbooks, then ran some free software that took a picture via the webcam every 10 seconds or so. This was good enough for the teacher to use as the quality was alright, and it didn't take up a massive amount of space on the external hard disk I was using to save them on (whereas 24/7 video was obscene...). I think I just googled "Free Auto Photo Taker" or something. Or maybe I used an autoclicker and the Logitech webcam software... Gahh, it was too long ago, I've slept since then!

Just going to brainstorm a few considerations, in no particular order. Sorry for the random order of my thoughts! If a few keys go missing on a desktop keyboard, it's £10 to get a new keyboard and 30 seconds to swap them. If they go missing on a laptop, it's £40 plus the time for a technician to take apart the laptop to replace it. Consider the cost of storing the laptops. Cabinets that hold 30 laptops securely are not cheap. Also look at who has the keys to each cabinet, who checks each cabinet e.g. at the end of every day to ensure that the laptops are all switched off, all plugged in and that the cabinet is plugged in and charging. Get a cabinet with a timer so that the laptops aren't being charged all of the time (can kill their batteries if they're always charging 24/7). Consider where in each room the cabinet will go. They are not small and require an accessible plug, and a route for large groups of students to be able to fight to try and get a laptop at the same time. Take a look at the profiles for all of your staff & students. Are they local, roaming, mandatory? Small enough for a class of 25-30 to be able to simultaneously download them on to laptops off the same wireless access point? Can your wireless infrastructure cope with the increased load of everyone logging on, browsing the internet and even the basic machine polling done by servers all over the wireless rather than some being wired? To end this long post - good luck! EDIT: A final consideration. Never underestimate how long it takes to put 30 chargers and laptops into a cabinet. Set aside at least an hour to 2 hours per cabinet for wiring, setting the timer etc.

Ooooooo are we allowed software now? A video game that I suspect many on here will know.

Quickly throwing this out there without a massive amount of thought: Would it not be possible to create a VBA script to go with the dropdown - so the teacher selected from the drop-down what they were searching for, then you input that into the formula as pcstru said. Behind that you could have a bit of VBA that ran when the dropdown box was updated, which retrieved the value in the drop-down and ran through a SELECT statement to output to a custom function giving the range... I've just realised how over-complicated that sounds.

Looks to me like the inside of an Apple Mac. (on second thoughts, nah, it's not shiny enough). Or a similar all-in-one PC.

Hi Smee, I presume when you say that you're trying to find cells that have 'Y' and '2B' in them, you're adding up another column? If you use the Function Builder in Excel (In Excel 2013, it's under the Functions tab, then click on Insert Function) it'll show you what you have for each 'option' available for that function.

When I used to work in a secondary school a year ago (wow, that didn't seem like that long!) we used to set all student passwords for years 7 - 11 as 4 numbers randomly chosen and logged in a spreadsheet. This way any one of us in IT Support could browse through the password list and hand it to the student ​if they forgot it. These master lists of each year group were then split down into IT Classes and distributed to the IT teachers at the start of the year. Worked well as they then had a copy for the first few weeks (until it went missing). Sixth form could set their own after an initial default of 12345. If they forgot it, they got something amusing like imanidiot or imustnotforgetmypasswordagain. Usually didn't see people forgetting it twice!

Hi Genesis, I work in a Secondary School. Some of the categories that we have blocked include Adult/Sexually explicit content, anything relating to alcohol purchasing, extremism/terrorism/hate speech, gambling, non-educational drugs websites (e.g. Talk To Frank FRANK is allowed), hacking, proxies and translators, dating sites, violence and weapons. I'd also take a look at any Acceptable Use Policies that you have implemented, as these should give you a good starting point. Hope that this helps!

+3 for Sharp. Their business support is fantastic. We have 6 machines doing about half a million pages per year each. Equitrac is what we use for our print management software.
