  1. "Yeah, so, I'm inviting a load of techs and NM's from other schools to have a massive LAN gaming session in our main hall, is that alright? I promise there won't be any alcohol...." Can't wait to see how that'll go down in some schools!
  2. Yeah, they sound like a bit of a snake.
  3. Is this a Windows licensing issue? Surely the leasing company will have told you what condition the machines should be returned in e.g. "These PC's are supplied with Windows 8.1. You may change this operating system with one legally licensed to your organisation. When returning to us at the end of the lease the machines need to have the original operating system and product key entered". I'd query it with the leasing company to ask what they recommend. You can't be their only customer who changes the OS on the machines leased from them.
  4. I'm in if anyone wants to do a marathon of gaming, but it'll have to be a weekend!
  5. Thank you @ZeroHour, hope you had a fantastic holiday
  6. It seems a tad excessive to deliver a pane of glass like that.... I suppose they screwed it to the pallet as it was cheaper than trying to protect it. If it got dropped I bet it would have shattered their dreams.
  7. Booted up GTAV the other day after I posted... It's on my SSD. AND THE LOADING TIMES LIKE OMG I COULD HAVE DIED WAITING WHY DO THIS TO ME AREN'T GAMES SUPPOSED TO GET BETTER OVER TIME I MEAN COME ON ROCKSTAR Oh, wait, I moved it off my SSD because it takes 70GB of space... Wow. Not sure whether to move it back or not, it'll take some major reshuffling before I can free up a third of my SSD.
  8. Ha, no worries - thanks Elsiegee. Hope he has a great time. Family is the most important thing in this world
  9. Any news? 4 days off and if I can't play Minecraft I may just curl up and go to sleep for all 4 days...
  10. Wow, I really need to finish watching Black Mirror...
  11. I used to play GTA:O but stopped when it seemed like every server had someone using cheats... Would definitely be interested in this!
  12. Any joy? I'm currently RDP'ing in to work but once I've finished this I'll be around if it's back up.
  13. Sorry @Stormborn15, Mac's aren't my area - I just remembered that the process sometimes involved manually deleting the key before selecting Create a New Keychain would work. I don't know what is stored in the Login keychain - I'd suggest looking at one on your network and seeing if there's anything important. Also I'm not sure if there's a global one or if they are specific to individual users. It may be easier to move any local work off the account (if you have anything saved locally on the Mac) then delete the account completely and log in again. Good luck!
  14. Sometimes we had to log in as the student affected, open Keychain manager (authenticate with local administrator account) and delete any keychain records for that student. Log them out and back in again, now when you click Create a New Keychain it should be fine. (sorry, haven't done this for about 12 months so can't remember the exact specifics)
  15. Wasn't me this time! (actually, I did set up a MFR farm last night... )
  16. I feel somewhat under developed with my home setup - It's an Asus RT-AC68U router which provides DHCP, DNS etc. and wireless. I have an old PC in one room that I used as a server (made up of previous computer build parts - AMD Phenom II x6 1100t Black Edition, 16GB DDR3 RAM, currently under construction with a 120GB Sandisk SSD Plus and I need to purchase some HDD's to make it into a NAS). Apart from a 4-port unmanaged Linksys switch in my room for my Xbox, PS3 and PC, there's only my parents client devices and some phones/tablets and that's it. Wish I had the space/money for some of these nice sounding setups
  17. Our bad, yeah - we had too much cobble so we were compressing it. I'll take a look at using Opaque Itemduct instead, as that helps to reduce lag vs. pipe that shows the items.
  18. I have a reactor and quarry there but that's been running for a couple of days. We have sorting systems into JABBA Barrels (using opaque itemduct to prevent lag) and a Progressive Automation chopper with a range of 3 - so I don't think it's excessive tree farming (Yes, I have killed servers before with tree farms. Once made a Redwood tree farm using MineFactory Reloaded.... ONCE...) Usually backup programs run every half an hour but only if players have been online. I can't think of anything else that's been modified in the last couple of days. What error was on the console or was it just 'Unable to keep up'? EDIT: Just to note that ADMaster kindly allowed me to hijack part of his base
  19. New large reactor sorted. Have fun Control rods are set to 80% or 90% depending on whether you want energy to be stored in the reactor or not.
  20. Hmm, fair enough - I'll take a proper look tonight. It's been a slow day, wish I could head home early. Just sat listening to the new Mike + the Mechanics album
  21. Round the corner from your house I think there's a desert village near where we are that might be a good start - it has (at least partial) walls.
  22. I like the idea of a communal area - I'm working on creating a BigReactor at the moment and would be happy to donate it and any machines I have to the cause!
  23. This is good advice to give to teachers as well. Personal accounts are to be used for personal things, school accounts are to be used for school things. Also what happens when you leave, are you going to hand your personal account over to them? Much better to have a generic "[email protected]" for TwitBook etc.
  24. Hi Stuart, Don't worry - there's no such thing as a stupid question! Here's a quick guide that should see you through: Download the Technic Launcher from https://www.technicpack.net/download - this is what you will open instead of Minecraft. Once it has downloaded, login using your Minecraft credentials (or Mojang credentials which is your email address - this will be most people) Now click on Modpacks at the top of the Launcher. There should be a search bar at the top-left of this page, above a list of commonly used modpacks. Into this search bar paste http://api.technicpack.net/modpack/the-1710-pack Now you should see an option to install The 1.7.10 Pack. Once it's downloaded and installed, click it from the menu on the left (still in the Modpacks tab of the launcher) and click Play. Now Minecraft itself should load. This may take a while on slower machines - there's a lot of mods in this pack! The Minecraft Menu will have changed from what you are used to on Vanilla. The process is still the same, however. Click on Multiplayer, then Add Server. Change the Name to "EduGeek Server" and into the Server Address bar (I think it's called) type mc.edugeek.net Now join! You need to have set your Minecraft Username in your profile here on Edugeek. Ensure you are logged in to Edugeek Click "Settings" in the top-right of any page From the menu on the left, click on "Edit Profile" Scroll down to the bottom and enter your Minecraft Username. Note that this is your Username, not your Email Address - log in to Mojang's website to confirm what this is if you're not sure. Hope this helps, good luck!
