with Google Classroom the teachers simple archive last years classroom, create a new classroom and add their pupils. EDIT - the staff can still access last years work and add what they need to this years assignments.

nothing wrong, but I wanted to tighten up the firewall rules on my vm server and didn't want to accidently block my access to the vm from the host.

Just wondering if its possible to mis configure the virtual servers firewall so it becomes impossible to connect to the VM (GUI) from the host. Can’t seem to find anything on the interweb If so what firewall setting would do this?

Last year I deployed a chrome extension, which i thought I had done via the Google Admin portal. The staff are now having issues with this extension so I went to remove it but it's not listed (or I am looking in the wronge place) in the Google Admin portal. I know Google have been moving everything around, so perhaps that section is now somewhere else. Any ideas.

all my hosts (nic1) have static IP's, wouldn't want dhcp for them anyway. EDIT - Unless its the adapter that is actually routing your VM data. open the adapter settings and check to see if ip4 is checked, if not dont change anything

Just wondering what is best, Should the teachers archive the Google classrooms from last year or just delete the old pupils? This is for a single form primary school

Found the fasted way to fix this is to use the hidden refresh menu. Hold down the shift key and click on a folder with some missing files inside and you should get the extra option to refresh the contents.

Someone suggested that I should replace the \\server\ path with %USERPROFILE%\Documents, although I have not tested this yet as the staff are not back yet.

The backup worked last night :-)

i have just noticed that the SIMS Discover Data transfer tool was set to run just after the backup was set to start. I have just changed the time Discover Data transfer starts. Do you think this might have caused the issue?

The other day I setup a new 2019 server VM on the host, installed SQL express and a couple of other items, but the host is having problems backing up the VM. The past few nights it has failed on just this new VM (the DC VM backs up OK), giveing the error - the writer experienced a non-transient error, in Windows backup on the host. Yesturday I manually ran the backup during the day and that did work. I can see the following error in event logs Source = SPP Event ID = 16387 Writer Microsoft Hyper-V VSS Writer experienced some error during snapshot creation. Please any help would be great.

I need to remove folder redirection for My Documents etc. I have searched but have also read that making a wrong change can muck everything up, hence my post. Currently all users access their documents as a home folder (H drive), so I believe I need to leave any files there but remove the redirect only, if that makes sense. Do I update / change the current policy, or make a new one? I have supplied images of current policy setup, what would you suggest I change? BTW this is a 2016 DC Thanks

Ohh its OK found them, I needed to right click on the folder listed in GP

HELP... I need to remove redirected folders. I have found the policy in GP and it does list settings when expanded but when I follow the path to remove the policy nothing is listed. This is the path listed in the policy - user > policy > Windows Settings > Folder Redirection > Documents Any ideas

When you open Chrome there are currently two ways a user can add a second account. The correct way is to create a seperate Chrome profile using the little circle icon near the X (top right of window), but I find lots of staff use the 'other method', which is to click the circle further down and then attach the account, which doesnt create the account in a seperate profile. Is there a way to stop users using the 'other method'?

I already have SIMS working through a test setup but wanted to start turning of some of the default allowed firewall settings on the clients, as I bet 80% are not needed. I can do this through trial and error but thought I could save myself a load of time by asking.
