I'd make life simpler Stu and just set a computer policy on your top level OU and make all machines power settings the same? Do your screens lock after a certain time, we set ours low incase staff leave sims logged in and go away from their pc, its an extra security blanket! D

Not come accross this before no, But it have found an MS article that sounds about right. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/171998 If not can you copy and paste the output of "ipconfig /all" into here so we can look a bit deeper. Do you only have a single DNS Server Setup? Have you traced what the ip addresses of the unknown servers are? Do you have any Wireless routers that may have DNS and DHCP enabled and are causing problems? D

Hey Eerybody, I've just been trauling the internet for something to pass half an hour and found so I've decided to give it a go myself, I won't get to anywhere like this time length but I'm guna try for a few months and who knows! Has anybody on here ever tried anything like this before? D

30 on one might be a little slow, get two HP ProCurve Wireless Access Point 420 and splt 15 on each, should be nice and quick then! D

I know when it comes to making a new machines image you can spend half your time on finding and downloading the software that needs to go on there. Well, I've found a piece of software that can help. All I do now is create a folder called "New Machine Setup" and in there I have all the setup files. To keep the setup files up to date is use Ketarin - Ketarin - keep your setup packages up to date It's really good it checks for new versions of the software you specify, and if there is a new version it downloads it, so when it comes to making a new image you always have the latest versions and don't have to go trauling the net for hours! D

I know with 2k3 if you change the name of the msi as in the image attached it changes what it says when the software is being installed. D

Yeah, there has been an increase of these annoying things running autorun.inf from usb sitcks lately! Just about had my fill of them now, its time to think of something new! D

It seems more plausable that it may be a faulty NIC on a computer or printer that is getting turned on at a certain time and flooding the network with broadcast traffic, use the tool above and you will be able to track where all the traffic is origionating.

Try running Agilent Network Analyzer, it will tell you where the broadcast traffic is coming from. Agilent | Free Download - Network Analyzer Software Standard Edition I leave it running, its very good to spot these kind of problems early as it has a good GUI. D

Synchroneyes is good and very easy to install. It can be rolled out via GP as an MSI and goes on really easily. Same for the teacher install, once its on there its easy to use also! D

+1 for 64bit Windows 7, I've been on it for a months now and have never had a problem, even with tricky programs and weird peripherals. D

We have problems with LAN when we have blackout / brownouts (No silly comments please). The solution we have found is to go into the bios, disable the NIC and everything asociated with it. Save settings and power cycle. Enter the bios again and enable the NIC and everything asociated with it. Then try your WOL/WON and you may find that it is back working again. D

True I suppose yeah, it's the logical way I sorted a few Pc's out! D

Give the AP's different names eg SchoolAP1 SchoolAP2 SchoolAP3 then set 20 laptops to connect to AP1, 20 to AP2 and 20 to AP3. Its only a simple solution to tide you by until you get a proper managed service. D

Try removing the USB Cable that connects the front panel! It's a common problem on fujitsu kit. D

I'd use Ghost, it will copy the disk correctly and maintain all shares and permissions. D
