  1. One school I worked at had this as a common problem but the mice would also get just about everywhere as the building was listed and rather old. It made trying to locate network faults an interesting experience. Rubber gloves became my best friend! It's now a rather posh wedding venue https://www.froylepark.co.uk/ My Office was the two windows directly above and to the right of the entrance.
  2. Use Apple School Manager and Zuludesk for the MDM here - still getting to grips with all the features of ZuluDesk. My iPads were purchased through Apple approved supplier and even the local Apple Business team couldn't better their pricing with Education discount.
  3. Hiya All - Don't break up until 21st and got DD @ dentist in Bournemouth on 22nd. Thinking outloud, if I bung her on a train home from Salisbury I could come. Please keep me posted
  4. I can't see the sky from my office http://awscdn.cdngeek.com/images/smilies/frown.png Know that feeling here too!
  5. I'd also ask what they're needed for, I've got several that are gathering dust and not used.
  6. It could be being set by Intel graphics manager or nVidia if you've got it installed? Have you checked HKLM registry for extra display keys info? Tried reset to using microsoft only video drivers?
  7. Not unlucky (sadly) I'm currently on hold at 8 mins and counting...normally leave on speaker phone then end up wondering who the hell's trying to talk to me when they do eventually answer!
  8. Have you got GPO stopping students from running command and install functions too?
  9. Depending on age / capability of student, you could use Read & Write or Dragon Dictate (or similar) for note taking & reading back. Plus, depending on their needs, you can change more settings in windows through personalization with regard to screen colour and menu fonts etc than you can on an iPad through accessability options. I'm just setting up an iPad for a five year old registered blind and there are limitation on colours and fonts with it. You can also use something like join me so student can see what's on the whiteboard / teacher PC. Hope this helps
  10. honest answer... haven't a clue!
  11. @Kamil - We've got 10 Cameras and a 1TB drive which is currently recording about 5-6 days worth, it's not on network so I can't access remotely. Then I get called in if there's been an incident in holidays to record the evidence for police etc..
  12. +1 for Hikvision - only issue I've got is we currently need more storage to get a full week's recording saved.
  13. @Bedders - Was off sick for first half of 2016 but all better now, hence the long - term lurk;)
  14. Hi All, I've been a techie for what seems a very long time now! Pre kids Aircraft Mech Eng then post kids I.T. techie in various forms of Education. Now getting dragged into class to "assist" teachers with Computing curriculum. Still thoroughly enjoy it, especially when I can help SEN pupils achieve and access things. I've been a lurker for a long time so a HUGE thank you to all the information I've found in the past & hope to contribute to in the future!
  15. I worked as 1/2nd line support at a specialist college for 6 years but then moved back into mainstream education about 2 years ago. I'm now using a lot of what I learnt there to support more complex pupil needs within mainstream education. It's really great when you can help a student access something that without I.T. they wouldn't normally be able to.
  16. We "lost" our ICT suite sometime ago, it's now Deputy Head & my office which makes for interesting combination but that's another story. Over Infant (180) & Junior (240) schools I've got 180 laptops in trolleys and we don't have an issue with laptops not being plugged in to charge (staff check and lock cabinets). They're used throughout the day and we use the library for IT clubs. It also means staff can grab a laptop to use at anytime rather than having to wait for PC to be available in class. Robust WIFI is the key - we've just upgraded with Aerohive AND stopped staff using their mobile phones on it which gave up a surprising amount of bandwidth! Yes infants & juniors manage to get keys off, but a robust monitoring by staff has meant that culprits are caught and don't like the end result!
